yup you have it right,

head----->valve------>passenger side of heater core

driver side of heater core ------>hard-line that leads to thermostat

 

Thanks for the confirmation. Now, I just got to find radiator hoses for the whole thing... Hope it's pretty straightforward.

 

here's how i ran mine...i made a bracket that moved the valve, work great, been using it daily for over a month, and the best part is it makes all the hoses just straight lengths

That is a nice bracket but, when I do K swaps I don't even make a bracket. I just make the the first piece of hose to the valve the perfect length, use a zip tie to hold the cable on it, and the hose holds the valve in place when operating the valve. All of mine have worked perfectly. :up:

Both ideas are great ^^. I may have to consider making a bracket or attaching the hose a different way to make for a cleaner look. That being the only thing on my firewall kinda ruins it, but gotta have heat for the cold desert nights.

 

Just do it the ghetto way and flip your hood and close the valve whenever you want or don't want heat..haha

 

Anybody have the needed length of the hoses? Both are the same inner diameter, right?

 

I actually reused the stock heater core hoses from my old d-series motor. perfect fit.

 

I looked at your thread to see if you have any pics of how you did it.But I found nothing??

i'm having an issue with my heater. The valve is functioning properly, i think, and the engine runs normal temp, but the heater never blows hot air.

 

Do you have any air bubbles in the system? If you leave the car running for about 20-30 min with the rad cap off you should be able to get all the air out if you have any in there. You may want to check your water to coolant mixture because that can effect the heat transfer through the system. Also make sure all the lines are connected correctly and that coolant is flowing in and out of the heater core. Make sure the valve is opening too. :wink:

Looks Great mike what hose did you use for the heatercable??You mention something about a hybrid rsx this, and that??

I did mine the same way Mike at K-tuned did with a ziptie before I removed all that stuff from under the dash. If i did it again I would just run it without a valve because hot coolant still gets in the heater core not matter what.

 

is it necessary to use that valve?i ask cause if no ac is being used and you only want to retain heat why not take the valve out and let coolant flow through at all times .....i might be wrong but if any body can clarify this...

you can run it without the valve there.

I've seen many bays where the valve was not used.
