Wide tire size

What is the widest tire size you can use on an EG hatch?

I saw a thread in the boost section where someone was running a 235/60/15. Some people have told me that 225mm wide tires will rub. I am trying to run the widest tire I can without rubbing problems and the smallest speedo variation possible.

I was thinking something like a 235/50/16 or maybe a 225mm wide tire. Something from BFG if possible.

Any suggestions?

depends on the width and offset of your wheels as well as what type of driving you will be doing.

use the above to find the best combination for your application.

I know that the tire size I am looking at will not throw the speedo off by more than 5mph. The width of the wheel will be atleast 7 inches. I'm thinking the offset would be a commonly seen offset for an EG hatch.

Driving style is drag..but the car will be a daily driver.

get some 225 for daily driver and 255 for drag

I run 215/45/16 on my hatch (EK) for road racing... I thought I was going to be assed out with the new Azenis, but Falken just released a 215 and a 225 to compliment the 205.

I think the 225 was a 225/50/16, but I am not sure what type of rims you want to run 15 or 16. I love my 16's and I love my Azenis...

Where did you find 225/50/16 in Azenis? I haven't been able to find them.

The only thing I don't like about Azenis is that they are quite heavy.

I saw them advertised in the new Super Street, the one with the 850hp S2 on the front...

I will see if I can find someone who sells them.

They are a great road race tire. When i let the instructor at my last track event drive my car he was surprised, he said the car felt just like his car which was riding on R comps... the matching 32mm sways may have made a little difference...

I would want to run a 225/50R15 with that setup since you get a bigger contact patch which is always good. Alot of people have said that a 225 width tire will rub, in which case i would just go with a 205/50R15.
Do you guys a 225 width tire will rub???

My 215/45/16's rub slightly at full lock, and they rubbed on my fenders a little till I rolled them...

Rubbed in the front or the back? I had my RSX-S fenders rolled for the wheel/tire combo I had on it and I don't know if I want to do it to this one. I was going to get the tires you are talking about wrapped around a set of Rota Circuit 8's. Best setup I could think of since I can't find any STICKY 225mm wide tires that fit a 16" wheel.

Anyone know what offset wheel I should get?

I am getting 16" Rota Circuit 8's and I'm trying to run a 225/45/16 BFG drag radials.

They rubbed in the front and teh back. But just a little and only when i hit a bump or something, they only rubbed on the outside of the tire kind on the sidewall. The front barely rub at full lock, I have a dime sized spot on the inside of the tire well where it rubbed off the lining at full lock.

I don't think you are going to be able to get away with anything really big without a little rolling of teh fenders..

If I can get away with 225mm wide tires with a certain offset wheel and rolled fenders then I don't mind. Any idea what offset I would need? I don't even know the average offset that people put on EG's. I had an RSX-S and I'm new to the honda world.

I think my K1's are +40 or +44mm. i think have seen +35 up to +45 i can't rememebr anything bigger than that.

I went through all of this about a year ago when I did my 5 lug swap. I think anything in the +40's would be alright, but don't just listen to me i am just going off of my memory which is not all that great...

I decided on 225/50/15 BFG Drag Radials in the front. They came in today. Once I get the wheels in and the swap done I'll be able to let everyone that may ask this question in the future know the answer to it.
