This a independent review of the AMR coilover for Civic SI
I have been using a couple of types of coilovers, and broke a few or leaks, not going to name brands, but 1 is Jap, another is Taiwanese brand. After the last coilover going bust on me, I decided to source another brand for my ride.
After some research and reading reviews on the web, I decided to give a try with AMR Engineering. I email to them stating my usage for the car and also ask for some advice, and they help me with it. I'm not going to repeat what questions I ask, but those questions is just to make sure they know what they are doing and not just trying to sell.. I'm not going to buy shocks from a company that only say, without knowing the real technical specifications and how to go about recommending a proper shocks for certain use. And I meet alot of those salesmen in the past ;p. Once confirm, I send my payment over.
And to my surprise, the price is cheap, considering that they are customised.
Well,, not going to state the price.. (I bet AMR will post the price here though after they see this in this review lol)
The leadtime specify to me is 6~8 weeks, but guys, get prepared to wait for about 6~9 months for the shocks. Mine took 9 months... lol.. They are custom made and custom valved... = long wait. I personally don't mind to wait as I'm more concerned with quality and performance than the leadtime. But anyone that need shocks fast, forget about it, or get a low cost shocks to use while you wait.. I would recommend you to order early before your shocks give way... lol...
During the wait, I keep pestering andrew or Andy about the coilovers.. can't remember which..lol.. They will answer your enquires prompty and update you on the status, but give them a ring or email them. posting on forum doesn't really works. lol..
And they were honest enough to tell me that they make a mistake on the making of my coilovers... They make a mistake on my car model..., and I will have a delay because they need to redo a new set for me. and even send me pictures.. No dealers I deal with before were honest to this level.. lol...
Ok, finally the coilovers arrived. I have took pictures of the set, and will update the performance measurement on the track before I continue part 2... On to the installation
Oh, the pictures specks are due to the cardboard particles from the packing.
But the quality is great.
