Just for the sake of argument why do the OEM manufacturers put the screen there? Does it help with pattern? or flow, or what?

i been modding and selling these things for over a year now.. lol.. surprising nobody posted it sooner

 

I've been running them in my car for awhile now. Most people do the RSX-s 310cc -> 520cc. I hadn't heard of anyone doing the RSX base/Civic Si 270cc injectors with flow test results. I figured, why not, 520cc is more than I'd need anyhow. The spray pattern comes up better than with the 520's too (which test as "good").

Comptech was selling the modded OEM injectors for $100/each back when you could get the injectors for $60/each from the dealer.

 

Sweet, I have a set of CRV 270's that I modified this way about 5 months ago, nice to know they flow around 480/490. Great info, looks like I'll be keeping them incase I go to FI or build the engine a bit.

it's amazing to see that the screens decrease the flow of the injectors by that much. great info.

 

is there anything else that has to be modify other than removing the screen...you guy talked about having to grind down something...please chime in...

 

the hardest part is removing the plastic caps on the injectors w/o breaking them. You have to carefully pry them of. once they're off, you grind down the tip of the injector along the laser welds and viola, the screens come off.

It's really easy. just take your time, and don't break the plastic tips. If they crack, you can still use them, they'll just stick in the manifold when you remove the injectors, which isn't a big deal.

The a2 injectors are 310cc and they mod to 520cc.

 

has this been tested with the CR-V injectors as well? Are they the 270's too?

 

Injector part number is the same on the cr-v units.

 

wicked. how did you find out that you could do this? do you just buy spare junkyard parts and play around with them or what??

This thread is a lifesaver. I need 520cc injectors for my blower install this weekend. I will be modding my K20Z3 injectors.

 

is there any oem app that can put you at 550cc?

 

Not that anyone has found so far.

OEM 270cc = modded 490cc
OEM 310cc = modded 520cc

RDX are 410cc, but modding them would most likely destroy their excellent spray pattern. For me, the modded 270cc work well b/c they maintain an "excellent" spray pattern as rated by RC after modding. The modded 310cc injectors drop to a "good" spray pattern as rated by RC after modding.

quick question, if i were to mod my type s injectors, would i have to change the injector size in my kpro? or am i getting the concept of flow rates and injector sizes confused?

 

you would need to change the injector size in kpro and then fine tune the scaling. i am sure that someone else here with more knowladge will better answer your question.

If you already have a tune with stock injectors and then you modify them, you can also leave the injector size the same on kpro and just adjust the over fuel trim to 5-10-15 % whatever will make the car have the same A/F line as before.

Ive been running modded 270cc CRV injectors as 480cc(set as that in Kpro) for six months now with zero issues, last tank I even did 34.4mpg with them.

^^^^I was just gonna ask if everyone was experiencing poor gas mileage...im about to do this mod....maybe that other guy needs to have his injectors cleaned and tested.

 

mine are still going strong. 30+ mpg with ease. I have them set according to the flow rates that RC gave, 490cc.
