My dad got 3 55 gal drums of ethanol and i was wondering if i mixed it w/ regular 91-92 pump gas would it hurt my a2? Is it possible to gain hp from that or help my engine run better? How much could i mix if it were possible using 91 octane?

You will not gain power simply from adding ethanol. Ethanol, racegas and the such just allow you to run more timing without detonation so you can pull more power that way. Dumping it in will not really do anything at all.

Ethanol, in quantities greater than around 10%, will destroy your fuel system. You car is most certianly not a flex fuel car and cannot run on ethanol without modification. I don't even suggest mixing 10%.

I am curious to what modifications would be needed to convert the fuel system to one that would be capable of handling ethanol either as a mixture or straight.
Would you need to use diffrent injectors, pump, lines ect. Would different sizing requirements vs. gasoline fuel systems for the lines and fittings?

Im just curious as to what advantages ethanol would have over gas in the first place. Is the only advantage being pulling timing to avoid detonation, or are there other advantages not mentioned?

Sorry for all the qeustions just very interested.
Thanks for any info:)

Really depends on your fuel system. I'm fairly certian the rsx can take 10% ethanol as that was mandated by the government I think. I can't tell you what all is required to run more -- might look at "e85 conversions" for starters.

oh hello here comes the ethanol semi-expert!!! You CAN run your car off ethanol. Now heres the tricky part, to produce the same amount of power you have to add 30% more fuel! gasoline contains more energy than ethanol, and for your purposes the only benefit that ethanol would have would be to raise your octane rating. what all do you have done to your car? if you arent planning on bumping up your compression ratio or boosing to all hell, i wouldnt even bother with it.

on a side note ethanol naturally has an octane of 110, now remember octane doesnt mean how much power it produces meerly its resistance to predetonation (ie: how hard it is to get it to burn from compression alone) you can easily run 13.5:1 compression on pure ethanol. If you have anymore question lemme know i was running ethanol on a mustang racing motor for awhile.

I think you meant detonation or ignition, not pre-detonation. You most certainly wouldn't WANT your fuel to detonate.
