Ability to add a dry sump gear.

I got caught out with this problem had the race ati damper sent over to the u.k because I am running a dry sump system and it had no drive for the serp belt which I needed to use the alternator, after countless emails back and for we come to the conclusion that although the street damper says it doesn't have the facility to use a dry sump gear it actually does. So I had to send the race damper back to the states and am still waiting for the street version to turn up 4 months later.

Thanks Matt

i am running a longer regular belt with stock pullies on my alt and EP3 PS delete pulley. The water pulley has no groves. The ATI damper has groves. the only problems that i have is running my SC, i can only rev to 7600 on my Rotrex before i max it out. i would like to rev to 8500. I might sell my current one and get the street. Not sure yet

if your ATI unit has a grooved pulley it is the street version. The race version is not a pulley it is just a damper and only has the additional gearing option for running a dry sump.

You can nit run an alt, water pump, or anything with the ATI race unit.

Matt,

I have the street BNIB & can ship today. Who is supposed to ship you the street? if a reputable source they can ship to me & i'll send you mine now. PM me & let me know the details & maybe I can help you out

This is the best damper on the market in my opinion, We run these in all of the shop car's here with excellent results. They are also always in stock here!

It is the larger 7" pulley. The street one is smaller. and i do have the ability to run a dry sump gear

the ati race damper does not have grooves... you say yours does have grooves. I am stumped on this one. Maybe ATI had a (now discontinued) race with the grooves, thats the only thing I can think of

I could email brian and explain you would be willing to take delivery of my damper when it araives with them, ill get on to it now and ill pm you with the results thanks Matt

A question, I bought the race damper for my k series engine but where i put the alternator belt? Or its only for a drag 1/4 mile ?

if im not mistaken thats for the race onlyy like pro car set up, so no alternator belt is ran. i havent kept up with ATI but that was the case when i got one. the stree ATI is the one you need to run a ALT belt. i have had the street version on my PRO AM all motor car./All Motor street car/. i actually have it for sale for cheap if anyone wants it.

I think, we should all write to ATI. They sell a race damper with no pulley groves. We want one like the street with grooves or some provision for belting..

I madea custome alternator mount and belting. I would have been happy to put serpentine or v-belt on the pulley. It caused me a lot of work and problems. I have dry sump and alternator, only, for a road-race car.

If you had enough space in front of the engine, you can bolt 2 pulleys (gilmer or HTD) and have 1 drive the oil pump (if dry sump) and the other drive the accessories. Peterson, Johnson, etc. sell all kinds of pulley set-ups. PM me if you need more info. This is a lot of work, as you would have to re-align all the accessories that Honda has made mounts and ligned up so nicely with serpentine belt...

Anton

P.S. Here is a pic of my set-up.

I'll take a picture and remeasure it, it has 8 ribs

ATI RACE DAMPER k24 Question (S) POSSIBLY A STICKY (WHO KNOWS)

I have done a little research and just called ATI performance (410)-298-4343....still no answer.

I called and mentioned what engine setup i was running and that I already have part number: ATI-918478 which on their site states that it will fit k20 engines but doesn't mention anything about the k24 engine.

The part was purchased by Manny @ ENDLESS MOTORSPORTS IN NEW JERSEY.

My question for someone using or has knowledge of this is:

1.) CAN I USE PART NUMBER 918478 on a k24a4 engine? Will it Fit? Has anyone done it? Pictures?

2.) INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW (Im running a k-tuned water pump delete kit and 2003 Honda civic alternator <<<APPERENTLY LIGHTER IN WEIGHT and has same plug as k-series)

3.)I wanted to run my alternator, ATI mentioned a "V-Belt system" from the Big block chevy's <<<YES I READ THIS IN ANOTHER THREAD BUT AGAIN LIKE most information about this: CHOPPY and information is NOT CLEAR.
WHAT CAN I USE for an attachment for my alternator? Does anyone sell one/Make one? PICTURES OF THE INSTALL?

I did notice TALONRACERX or whatever his name is used the same part number but information on the k24 was not clear and not accurate. <<when I mentioned the k24 engine, they gave me that "HOLD ON LET ME CHECK "BS" only to tell me over the phone "WE HAVE ONE FOR A k20 but it doesn't say anything here about a k24" <<<Which doesn't tell me anything...:coleman:

So if there is anyone with VALID information that has some sources behind it would be great. Thanks k20a.org
