anyone ever drilled a hole in the 05-06 tranny and plug it with the 02-04 speed sensor with the 02-04 harness? does it work? or i should better off switching the case?

This is what I have been running for over a year now. No problems, it converts Hall effect sensors which is what the 05-07 type-s trannies use.
Were you able to retain cruise control with the converter? Ive heard cruise control gets disabled for whatever reason.bspcivic said:You have to do more than just switch the case. There is and extra set of teeth on one of the gears that are in 02-04 trannies. If you simply swap casings, your 05-07 tranny never came with this extra set of teeth to turn the speed sensor. So once you drill the whole for the speed sensor it will just sit there reading 0mph forever.
If you want to run an 05-07 tranny you don't have to swap casings just get a signal converter. I have been running one since December of 2005 and have never had a problem, except for a loose ground (my fault). This way you can use either tranny with little effort.
Thanks for the reply man. Im going to look into purchasing this. I have an 06 trans going in and an 03 trans going out. Rather keep the 03 trans in tact for resale.bspcivic said:I do not have my cruise control installed at the moment. One day, I plan to hook it back up but I do not see why it would not work. The whole thing is how you wire it up. You have to tap in to the vss wire before it splits. As long as you do it before its splits, then the ecu and speedometer will see the same speed signal. So I believe it would work. K-pro and the speedometer read the same as far they are concerned I am running a regular 02-04 tranny. The speed signal is perfect, it doesn't jump or do weird things, it is just like stock. You will not be able to tell any difference.

This device is independent of K-pro. If you are using a PRC ECU it will work also.lyx201 said:i do not need kpro to use this device right?
I think they do the same thing but they are two different products. This is not the same as bigcalidave's converter correct?
If you did not convert your harness, the answer would be yes. I do not really know exactly what they do when the "convert the harness" so I do not know if the signal converter will work for you now.i know this is an old thread so i hope someone still checks it....ok i have a k20z1 and the 06 tranny that goes along with it but im putting it in a ef9 so i knew i would have to run the 04 tranny so i just got my harness converted so does that mean i cant run the signal converter cause i changed my wiring harness??? im also running 04 k-pro.....please help very confused...thanks
