it's important to monitor these things? We're getting off track here. Gotovato will be interested in your oil pan. We've been over the sandwich wars and some of these guy's have so many oil plates there filter is against the fire wall and they can't get it off. Dude you may cause more problems than it's worth? Just keep your pan and get a bung or two.

use lots of Titanium fasteners, this will make you feel better.

Back to this. It can be done! An extra quart in the pan won't hurt. If you want to put a trap in O/K.

What you need to consider is: What are your needs?

See here, I changed my mind.

Still if you look at the factory setup it just ouzes "I love you". Look at it.The webbing and beefyness of it overshadows the bolts it takes to hold it together. Lest we forget the big ass hole your leaving for the clutch to see the light of day and everything else. You should consider some type of cover like maybe from an A3 or something like that? Go with what you know.

I would think about it over some mini muffins though. I like the blueberry ones.

Yah man, either way will work fine for me but I will probably end up with the oem pan either way I go if I know myself.
I do have the the bigger flywheel inspection plate so that part was going to be covered.

Maybe I’ll just do the basic baffle without trapdoors. Save me some $ and still better than oem. Funny thing is I actually had one too, I returned with a restock fee it in favor of getting the Unit2Fab pan lol.

wow I wonder why out of all the aftermarket baffled oil pans other than like Toda and Spoon which just modifies oem doesn’t factor that in?

Warm blueberry muffins sounds good!

yes, although not a track car I still find it important enough to monitor oil pressure and oil temp.

It's good that we can all take a moment? Life is in the details, no. If it takes blueberry muffins to bring us together if even for a moment, life is good. You can run an extra quart it's an road racer trick. I think this is being over thought for what it is. You can weld bungs and add traps. I truly believe Gotovato might be interested in that pan. Where is he?! He can actually use it as he routinely puts it on two wheels. We'll get you get you something going. Did you do a search yet because I know there are weld in products out there and aluminum is easy to weld and repair.

unt2fab steel baffled pan > anything circuit hero/skunk dropin baffle/Ballade (all CWM copies)/or the blox bolt in baffle (terrible piece btw).

Since you don't really track, all you really need to do is keep your oil topped off.

if you're hung up on the stiffener aspect the aluminum pan provides over the steel pan, you can run this factory K24 block stiffener/brace that fits around a steel pan.

Hahaha Can’t go wrong with blueberry muffins!
for sure I’m over thinking no doubt about it. I could basically go any route and be totally fine.
I mean every aftermarket pan, even $900 one’s does not have tie in points even on their aluminum versions and from big companies that are heavy into racing like Moroso, Drag Cartel and etc so the tie in points are a moot point I’m sure. As for the baffle, many race or raced for a while without them also, yep I have read about racers running extra oil too and helped in most situations 👍. I don’t mind throwing in a simple style baffle tho while the pan is out. I don’t plan on removing the pan again until I put in forged pistons and rods hopefully later rather than sooner 😜 that’ll be either when I hit 100k miles or so OR if I break something requiring me to dismantle the engine. Whichever comes first. So putting in a baffle that I probably don’t need, i don’t mind. I have a lot of stuff on my car I don’t need lmao. I rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it train of thought…

Where is Gotovato located? If in UK or Canada it may not be worth the VAT and shipping 🤔 I’m in da US.

I’m tryna underthink it and just put in the Unit2Fab pan , I already have it, it already has drain bung and sensor bung. I already had it powder coated. I’d keep my oem pan and eventually still have a bung welded on and keep it aside in case I ever want to put it back in. If I decide to go this route which is actually now what I’m leaning towards. Unit2Fab assured me it’s a moot point regarding the tie in points. They’re a heck of a lot more knowledgeable and experienced than I’d ever be and they are very reputable so I actually trust their word.

thanks on the gauges ! I dig them, I’m a carbon fiber freakaholic so I had to go with carbon inlay gauges. M
I’m going to add One more now that I decided to Boost, on dash defrost vent mount. A TSG-1 Turbo speed sensor and Boost gauge.

or I may replace my water/coolant temp gauge with it , we shall see. Only reason I don’t run the A pillar mounts is because I have carbon fiber A pillar panels I refuse to remove or modify haha
Did I mention I’m a carbon fiber-holic? 🤣

Interesting, that particular one doesn’t look like it would work with my trans but I didn’t even know these existed so you have me one more idea to look into, thanks!

I mean I’m coming to the conclusion that that stiffening aspect isn’t really a big deal. Especially since I’m not regularly tracking nor ever will be regularly. Spirited canyon driving and maybe a track session every now and then is it.
I am leaning toward just putting in the Unit2fab pan for now. I will look into those separate braces! If there is one that fits I may do it however not being part of the pan itself doesn’t seem like would really do anything with just a couple of m6 bolts vs the entire pan being one unit so come to think of it probably won’t even bother but I still will look into that! Learn something new everyday, love it

much appreciated Katman

I think now is a good time to admit what medications your on? LOL Your ALOT like me, I do things for no good reason other than I can. Hence the titanium and yes....a bit of carbon fiber never hurts?
Still we are faced with a new dilemma it would seem as though Katman has arrived.
This means there's a new sheriff in town?
Oh I know he looks so cute but

trust me buddy, he knows.

I have a semi build thread, you should look at it. There's lots of unnecessary things you can do with your free time.

Like switches to kick on your O2 sensor and other gauges that you should be looking at more than your phone.

Your a stock broker aren't you. That's OK we don't care. You

must over do this and it's not my money so I will continue to talk you through it. Try to take a moment and fix a nice

sausage and veggie dish for that special someone. NO not Katman, he's fine.

look at him, does he look like he cares? NO, he does not. Still he keeps poppin' up. I think he

does it on purpose? About that temp gauge....
Just put one of these on. It will give you a reason to open

your hood and check for whatever. I mean ya know how it is? When you wake up in the middle of the night call me. Unfortunately Gotovato is stuck in Canada and Trump put a warrant out for him. Something about assulting wild animals? IDK
Still....we will be here to work you through this. :alien:

OH I almost forgot I have a really hot ex wife you might be interested in? I mean take it off my hands. It's the least you can do? I'll throw in some suspension components.

I track my eg w/a unit2fab steel pan and no stiffener just like @mattkosem and didn't notice anything different (by the seat of my pants) vs when i ran a baffled aluminum pan. I don't think its a thing you can feel really lol. Wouldn't worry about it. The K24 stiffener is similar to a B-series Type-R style stiffener if you remember those.

Lmao! You’re too funny man, I’ll take some of what you’re having! 🤣

kidding aside yah man certain things I care about and really anal with and certain things not so much. Guns knives and da DC5 get da best I can reasonably afford to put into, all 3 of which has its share of unnecessary titanium and carbon fiber 😜🤣

Yes you could say I’m an investor of sorts, I make a lot of bad investments. Mainly into the aforementioned stuff I catch the fever on HAHAHA!

all good though, it’s my therapy, peaceful, relaxing & clears mind helping escape from the stresses of life stuff when working on & all of the above plus addition of adding smiles per gallon when driving her! Can’t wait till I get er boosted too, that will be a whole new venture in itself dialing in. 👻

Careful with the trap doors on the aluminium baffles, I've heard of a few instances of them sticking shut... For that reason I went with the Unit2 steel sump and never had an issue.

Your already into the steel pan and unlike myself a couple of reputable people with experience on these have spoken. I'm interested in these stiffeners Katman mentioned. Not that I need them but you might? Your easy going and that's lends to having a good time about it? Life is serious enough buddy. Be sure to keep us in the loop on this!

I feel like it's not a great place to read pressure or temperature, though. Some of us considered this location and the fluctuating pressure from VTEC and inconsistent oil flow volume made it seem not so great for either.

I have heard of this happening mainly skunk2 I heard of a couple cases but not many however this was in the back of mind. I believe I will just put in my steel unit2 pan so this is nice to know that it may mot be as much of an issue with steel.
That sandwich block looks slick! However I’d be weary of using that location personally but it does look clean and a slick idea if no potential issue. I’d feel more comfortable with adapter off the block or oil filter sandwich plate myself.

Input & suggestions much appreciated!

regarding the k24 brace @ Moho and Katman I actually browsed a bit I will some more too. That one looks to have holes in totally different areas but if there is a k20 version and reasonable price I’d actually do it even if not needed. It appears to be a flywheel cover / brace for some K24’s

oh I was also thinking about it last night and having the ability to inspect/ clean with that big of a ln inspection window is actually quite nice too. Another pro to the steel pan. Which I believe I’ll end up just putting in. I’ll keep my oem one and if later I feel like I want to swap back I’ll just do so I guess. I’m sure I probably won’t care too after the fact. 😜. I’ll keep oem one anyway tho. I learned my lesson about ridding of things too soon. 👍
