I recently picked up a Unit2Fab steel pan as I was looking for a baffled oil pan as well as a turbo drain and oil temp sensor bungs.
not really wanting to spend the $ on the aluminum versions. Also figured other than possible slight heat difference could not see any cons?
But
I realized that my oem oil pan (DC5 Type S) ties in the transmission and possibly makes the engine/ transmission tie in stronger and more stable because of this. So am I overthinking it or is the oem pan better and creates a stronger tie in that really matters??
Next question is I don’t really want to have to unnecessarily drop my oil pan for any maintenance, are these baffled trap doors something I have to be concerned about causing any issues in the long run? I’ve read of skunk2 ones getting stuck and causing oil pressure drops?? 😳 also even read of one causing catastrophic damage to engine because of this.
those flukes or something I actually need to be concerned about. Wondering if I should just bung my oem pan and just install a trap door less baffle like Circuit Hero or similar? I mean I don’t race. While I may track my car it’s not a regular thing. Once in a blue moon for fun. I just like the idea of having extra protection when I do slam some windy mountain roads now and then and when I do track my car. For peace of mind. I already got my ubit2fab pan but didn’t install it yet. I never researched before getting it and my fault but I just never thought there could be negatives and they assured me I’m good but of course they would right?
Thoughts?
