i just got mine up & running & set it at 8k for now til i hit the dyno.

thats a good question tho reving does involve the springs i never thought about how stong they are.being a real vtec head & biggest cams im sure there pretty strong tho.

McCoy said about that that with a dif oil pump you have to remove the balance shafts so it will vibrate more.

with sk2 3 cams what hp did you make?
it only vibrates a bit more and only at certain rpm's,all of which can be countered with a fluidampr crank pulley or similar. The balance shafts are robbing you of precious oil pressure, delete them and enjoy a couple more hp and a happier engine.

If your making power than high then I would personally leave it like that, just get an A2 pump or better yet an modded S2k.
I do have a modded s2k oil pump setup. with the s2s3 cams i made just over 240 whp on a rather conservative tune. off hand i don't remember the torque but i would ballpark 185'ish. When tuned, they ran to a rev limit of 9k:wow:. power peaked at approx 8250 and declined from there. Figure i have to set my shift light at 8100 so that by the time i shift it would be at peak power.

I had the car retuned and it feels like a different animal:up:, just don't have a dyno anywhere around here unfortunately :(.

^ so deleting them wouldnt be harmful?

then the quest for a type s oil pump continues.....
you are going to feel a little bit more vibration at different rpm's,that's the consensus of everyone that's done it.Personally for peace of mind I'd save up and get a crank pulley that has a dampener on it aswell(Fluidampr is a good example)

I have a K24 with 2009 TSX pistons (11.0:1) with Crower Stage2 3/4 cams. And at only 7000rpms the car was making 246whp and 196ft/lbs SAE running on crappy Canadian 91 octane. Car rev limiter is set at 7800rpms. Not sure of hp and torque know thou. Havent got back to dyno yet.

HotWheelz Tuned ... :worship:

whats a safe rev limit on a k20a/k24a1 stock frank? all oem internals without the type-s oil pump =/

i have a k24a3block with k24a2 head fully stock internals, the rev limiter set a 7k if i installed the s2k oil pump can i put my limiter up to say 8000 8500 and get more power ?

i will be using a s2k oil pump because i already have one

I believe that your cams may not be making any more power up that high.

Something you also have to worry about is your valve springs at that high of an rpm.
Remember K24 piston speed is a lot higher than a K20s.

Find out how high you make power then stop, simple as that

i would like to know about this too because i have a k24a1/k20a2 all oem internal. i know that k24a1 rev is at 6500rpm and k24a2 rev is 7200. with my set up i should be able to rev higher then 6500rpm right? i do have super-tech valve springs and retainers with type s oil pump.

Seems to me if I really needed to rev that high I should've opted for a K20 motor. They'll spin much higher safely and reliably. The piston speed won't be insane either. I have daily'd my '04 K24a2 and she has done everything I've asked. Gone up against ricers and ran through the countryside with the best of 'em. I rarely even have to crack VTEC to get my own way and never approach the redline that I imposed at 7200rpm. Why should I repay my motor with a beating? Aren't the car & driver a successful team? Perhaps achieving the the ages of 18-@28 years y'all feel the need to be the kings of Maple street and that's why this inquiry was posted. I'll never impress the Altezza tail light crowd - it's no longer important to me - to have a fast sleeper to creep up on 'em is paramount! I sure wish I could find the piston speeds thread. That would answer all your 20 something revving concerns. In a nutshell though it stated that Honda/Acura held five of the top ten piston speed positions of EVERY car manufacturer. Not the bottom five either with the K series motors approaching F1 speeds. Lot's of scores in the top five and some more in the bottom fives. Have fun making your redlines up in the middle eights. With enough money I can put a pig in a dress too. meh ....

revved mine to 8000rpms with a blower for 42,000 miles everyday with no probs.

the thing I didn't like was the downshifting of the k24.....IT was hard to get the revs back into peak power of the TQ curve
