Oil Pan Gaskets?

I've got a Unit 42 oil pan to install whenever the weather ends up nice enough to get my car out of storage for the winter. Back when I bought it, before I had read anything on the subject it, I bought a Fel-Pro gasket to install it with.

I see, now that quite a bit of time has passed, that it's more typical to just use Hondabond to install these things on K motors (or Ultra Flange, or Permatex Gray, etc.). I already have this, though, and as far as I can see from reviews where I bought it they don't seem to tend to leak.

There are quite a few of these things on the market (Apex, Cometic, Fel-Pro, KMotor, Mahle, etc.). A few, based on reviews, seem to have some issues but most don't. I don't see much of anything in forums about them though...mostly just comments indicating to use one of those various Silicone products instead.

Does anyone actually use one of these things? Any reason I shouldn't? Any feedback, good or bad, on them? I have an unopened tube of Hondabond HT I can use, but I figured I may as well just use this if they tend to work fine since I can't return it and it's here.

Finally got my pan installed today. Everything seems to have gone just fine. The gasket is some sort of composite material, and I used nothing but it as directed (no sealant, etc.) and everything looks OK so far!

I used the silicone gasket remover from Ford to take the Hondabond off and it made it a seriously easy task.

No word on the Unit2 pan yet. I did notice I have to fiddle my dipstick a bit more than before, since it seems to poke it slightly on the way down, but otherwise no drama. 😁
