I am making this post so others hopefully do not face the same situation I had to face a few months ago.

I had purchased a Hybrid Racing TPS at the beginning of my latest turbo build. The TPS sat on my shelf for a long time because it took a while for me to get the car back up and running. During that time, I started reading online about a bunch of people having problems with TPS's failing. Omni, Blox, and Hybrid Racing were at the time (that I knew of) the only companies that produced aftermarket TPS's. From what I read, the majority of failures occurred with the Omni and Blox sensors however I read a few incidences where HR TPS failed also.

I contacted HR and expressed my concerns. They stated that they had just released a new version of their TPS and I will not have any problems with it. They sent me a new TPS and I sent back my old (still unopened) TPS.

Well, after a few days of driving, I found myself stuck on the side of the road during rush hour traffic with this:

I could not believe my eyes. I had heard of the internals of the sensor failing but not heard of the entire sensor actually exploding! I contacted HR immediately. They seemed very concerned and offered to next day me a new sensor. I told him that I frankly did not want to run another HR TPS because I did not want to take the chance of this happening again!

Luckily for me, K-Tuned released their Billet TPS. I know that there is no way in hell for this thing to explode like my HR TPS did. I have been running the K-Tuned Billet TPS for over a month now with no problems. Not only does it perform well, but it definitely adds a bit of bling to the engine bay! I have yet to go to the drag strip. I will post updates of my experiences in regards to this TPS as soon as I get to the track!

I was later told by Hybrid Racing that their manufacturer had improperly applied epoxy to their TPS plastic casing. Either way, I hope no one else has to experience what I did!

I went through two TPSs in 3 weeks, and I ended up with a K-Tuned unit. NEVER have had a problem again. It's been 3 months and 4500 miles with racing involved.

i have a omini now. works fine. one thing im curious to tho is that when ive been driving on the high way and i go to stop the rpm drops way down and almost dies and the oil light will come on. like its going to die. then it comes back up to 1000 rpm's and is fine. wierd.

not sure if it has to do with the tune or i need to adjust my throttle.

has it always done that or did it start doing it all of a sudden?

all of a sudden. been doing fine. went on a hour 20 minute drive and then it started to do it on the way back. idk if i need to check over something that came loose or what.

its after hard driving mostly. will almost want to die when you push in the clutch to down shift.

but will bounce back up and idle at 1k- 900. just worries me the oil light comes on when it goes to almost 100 rpm.

I have an omni in my a3 right now. I had a bad tps before I switched it that would bounce up and down when stoped at a light.

Needless to say the new omni tps was a complete 180 fix to that issue. I've had it for about 18mnths now with no complaints

I went through 3 omni power ones and nothing against them as they were helpful each time but after 3 i was done. I am currently using the Ktuned as well and am very happy with it.

Just thought I'd come here and share my experience with my Hybrid Racing TPS.

My OEM TPS sensor failed at about 48,000km back in January. I replaced it with one of the older model Hybrid Racing sensors which went out a few weeks after. Contacted HR and they sent me 2 more, a replacement old-model, and an in-house built prototype of the new model to hold me over.

The second old-model sensor I received went out just like the first one did, a couple of weeks in. Same symptoms too. The car would idle fine, but it would jerk and hesitate at partial throttle around 3-4k rpm.

I replaced it with the Prototype sensor that they gave me, and that worked fine. I wasn't having any throttle spikes anywhere through the throttle range, but I noticed that my idle was acting funny... the TPS would report 0-3% throttle at idle. It didn't bother me much, but I told them about it anyway, and they shipped me out a brand new sensor.

The last sensor they sent me was the production run of the redesigned TPS. I have had absolutely no problems with it to date, and it's been about a month. What I did actually notice was that the last TPS I received was a lot heavier than the rest, much closer to the weight of the OEM sensor, and it's been flawless.

I usually wouldn't do this kinda thing, but I just wanted to let everyone know how awesome Hybrid Racing has been throughout the whole situation. They stand behind their products 100%, and are always willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that their customers are happy. Can't say the same for a lot of other companies in this industry.

Major thanks and respect to the guys at HR for sending multiple sensors halfway across the globe without any hesitation. These guys really do have what it takes.

i have my throttle reading negative 1%
i installed the ktuned tps did the re-calibration for closed throttle at 10.2% and full throttle at 108%. saved file then loaded it up and car still reads neg. -1% and idle goes up and down.
what could this be?
i have a skunk2 74mm with the Ktuned tps.

TPS failure. NEED HELP!!!

My tps is reading 42% for idle and 113% on full throttle. The reving at idle is annoying me out. Does anyone know how to adjust the voltage on the tps? Also, what is the correct voltage it should read on open and close? Please advise me if you have any ideas. I dont feel like getting a new tb or tps especially that sensor look like a b***h to take off. Thanks

PS. It a stock 02-04 rsx type s tb with all oems sensors.

Re: TPS failure. NEED HELP!!!

do you have k pro? if so adjust in kpro, if not you have to adjust the sensor itself with a multimeter.

Re: TPS failure. NEED HELP!!!

go to parameter, tps/knock it has two button to click, one for closed throttle and one wot, may have to hit lighting bolt symbol towards top of screen to sync your ecu to laptop.

Re: TPS failure. NEED HELP!!!

How do you adjust the sensor with the multimeter? Any help??? :( :( :( :(
if its oem TB with original oem tps no need to try to adjust TB just use kpro, both ways have been covered on here, can search and see way to use multimeter
