Ok so I've done tons of searches and a lot of reading about swapping k20a2 oil pumps into k24a2 motors, but what I would like to know is simply is it really necessary for me to do the oil pump upgrade with my 2006 k24a2 if I plan to only rev it to 7600-7800rpm and if it mostly a street car? I'm not saying it will never hit the track, but it wont be a regular thing. Additionally, if I do upgrade to the k20a2 pump, then I have read I will have to change to the k20a2 oil pan as well. So, I would like to know if I will get more or less or no change at all to the ground clearance between the bottom of the pan and the ground? I'm really worried that the aluminum pan will be damaged easily when the car bottoms out... I'm mainly asking because the motor is already in the car running so it'd be a real pain to pull it all out to do this...

k20a2 oil pump on a k24 is always a great idea man.The k24 steel oil pan will give you more ground clearance too.

its a good idea to install this oil pump now so you can upgrade the motor next
OK. If I run the k20a2 oil pump will I be able to still use the shorter k24a2 oil pan or will there be clearance issues between the k20a2 pump and the k24a2 pan? Also, what is your thoughts on the oil cooler upgrade? is it worth the hassle?

definitely go with the k20a2/z1 pump. your going to need the oil pump tensioner/chain/guide from the k20 as well.

as far as the pan goes, your clearance would be a little less with the k20a2 pan, but your fitment with the pump would be good with no modifications.

if you want to run the steel pan with the k20a2 pump, you will need to bang in the pickup enough to make it clear (which i wouldnt really reccomend)
ok sounds good. Idk maybe i'm being retarded, but do you think i'd be able to swap the pump with the engine still mounted into the car? It seems like there would be enough room, but I've only seen people do the oil pump install on an engine stand...

it would be pretty difficult considering you have to mess with timing to get the pump chain off and such. your best bet would be to do it with the motor out of the car..:shoot: i know, shit sucks.
lol ok yeah I hear you. I need to install a 50 degree vtc gear anyway so I guess i'll be pulling that the motor back out. Thanks for the input.
