We just got a new 06 Si head form Honda and noticed something different about it compared to the TSX (K24a2) head. They are not the same. The Si head uses all of the same external pieces, water neck, intake manifold flange, and so on ......but when we looked in the ports we noticed something very different. The Si head has almost the same exact ports as the type-s head. They are way bigger than the TSX head. Maybe this isnt new info but it was to us. With this head only being $300 NEW there should be no need to pay a lot of money for better heads for K24s. The TSX head is around 270cfm and this head looks like it should be around 290cfm like the type-s. Here is the only pic I have right now

but for a guy that has a K24a2 and whats a better head and doesnt have $600-$1000 for a used K20a head. He can buy this head for $300 and use everything off of the K24a2 head to make it work. Also if someone broke a valve and trashed the combustion camber, they would have all the rockers and stuff to swap over and make it work. I would like to put this head on a stock K24a2 and dyno before and after. It should be a damn good upgrade for $300

I guess that does make sense. I have a spare K24a2 head laying around that i was planning on mating to a k24 block when i find one for cheap. 300.00 for a port job cant be beat.

Yeah, exactly. I just spent $500 on a blown k20a2. All I wanted was the head. Still haven't pulled the head yet, but if its bad, I will go get an 06 Si head now and swap whats good. Thanks for the great info.

That right the 05 or less TSX heads had 276 max CFM and the 05 or less K20a2 have 300 cfm. The runners of the K24a2 are more little than the K20a2 that make more velocity. More velocity= more torque. But the 06 K24a2 have 1mm bigger intake valves. I never had the chance to flow tihs head yet. But I can tell you that if you want to use aftermarket cams, you will need to do porting on the K24a2 heads to enjoy your new cams. If you don't do porting on the K24a2, It is better to use the K20x3 head with aftermarket cams. I did proting on a K24a2 head this year, and I have the same flow than the K20a2 head but my runners ara still more little than the K20a2 head. For me this head is better than the K20a2 head because she have more velocity.

With this head and the 06 intake manifold and a Stock TSX head, stage 1 Skunk2 cams and Hi comp valves, I have had 235hp on a Mustang Dyno.

send me any head you want, from anyone, and another head stock, and I will guarantee more CFM, and give you back to back tests of our head vs anyone's head.

Flowtesting is free if you do this.

You can actually get a stock K head up around 320 CFM if you put a good intake manifold on it. With the stock Honda cams lift so high already, you can REALLY, and I mean REALLY get HUGE HP gains from porting a K series head.

no but the Si mani does and its cheap too :D
So guess my itb's wouldn't work on this huh? hmmmm. So another question is the rocker assembly fit on the head, common sense tells me yes!

The valves are 1mm over stock from any other head? sweet if it is.

My reading comprehension owns me sometimes :)

so does that mean the that z3 head is better than the z1 head seeing as it has tsx's external characteristics?

will this work....
k24a1 longblock and just change over the rocker assembly and the valves to the 06 si head? will it all work and bolt up? need to change pistons and rods to TSX? any input?

if this combo does work together i'm building me one.
How come when I try to find to purchase a head form acura I can only get the full assembly? I must really suck at the the internet.

I've gotta thank you for doing the research on this one. Seems like when we start doing our homework on the K-Series, we stumble upon more methods on bang for the buck:up:

Probably the best info I've info read all year.
