02 EP3 issues WTF thread

Okay I've got an 02 EP3, it's virtually stock, with the exception of a muffler and a short ram intake. The car is hard to start, and has an issue with rev'ing but idles perfect.

So what I've done so far;

Took a scan tool to her (stock ecu no K-pro), and I get two codes; P1156 (which doesn't even show up as a Honda code), and P0141.

So when I look up P0141 it's the secondary o2, I really don't need this o2 correct?

Secondly I start a datastream and notice the TPS is at 10% when no throttle is applied, and goes to 91% at WOT. Hm, weird, this is for sure an issue, but I don't think it'd cause a low RPM studdering.

So I've done a compression test, and I got 200, 200, 200, 175. Added oil to the last cylinder and compression went up. I went ahead and rotated the motor to TDC, and pulled the valve cover, and timing is dead on.

I've replaced; coils, plugs, crank position sensor, and I'm about to replace the throttle body. Everything that I have done I've verified that it's not the issue.

So the car sputters at low RPM's, doesn't show any misfire codes, idles pretty good (with the exception of some valve tick), timing is dead on, I've already replaced the main ignition stuff including the crank position sensor, and I still can't figure it out.

Any ideas guys??

okay, so I've readjusted the TPS to where it needs to be, verified that it does, in fact go to 100% when I go WOT.

Still same deal, it's hard to start, but when it starts she idles good. And she's got some low rpm studdering. If I ease the throttle she'll go up in the RPM band and will be pretty good.

WTF this is mind boggling

drhonda, yeah but it's a secondary o2, i didn't think it'd matter much considering the second o2 is for emissions purposes.

SIRcoupe, I haven't checked it, but when I did a search on the CEL I got a "fuel sender" something something. I didn't think it'd had anything to do with the map or baro.

I'll check it out tomorrow and report back. Thanks for the help

DJ I already checked that, no go.

Map and Baro are good.

I'm thinking it's the fuel pump. I pulled the fuel line and turned the key on and the fuel pump doesn't seem that strong. Or maybe cause I'm just used to walboro's I've got a 255 on order for the EP should be in in a few days.

Hopefully that's the culprit

Okay got the pump in, and I took out the back seat, took the cover off and the locking ring for the fuel pump assembly. OK WTF is this shiz? I can't seem to get it out, and there are springs everywhere.

What was honda thinking?

Anyone got an install thread for me?

Yeah after looking at some other posts, it seems like my fuel pump cage is broken...maybe that's what was wrong ha ha. I didn't know the fuel pump was set up like this. It's weird, I wonder why they didn't stick to the regular design. Anyway I still can't get the damn assembly out though. Anyone got some tips?

Okay, got the pump in, and no the bitch doesn't want to start at all.

I can hear the pump priming, and pulled the quick disconnect to confirm fuel flow. It does look healthier at this point from last time, but now she won't start.

So I sprayed carb cleaner into the intake manifold and she starts and idle. But won't run off her own power. WTF this car is so ****ing stupid.

Sorry for the language I've been dealing with this POS for too long. I checked the injector circuit and they both have power, referring the manual this should be correct.

I don't have noid lights to confirm if they are in fact spraying.

Someone please help, I don't know what else to do anymore besides blowing this POS up.

(sigh) main relay is good too. Is there an issue with ECU's going bad? I don't know anyone with K-pro to check with. Man I hope someone chimes in, I'm about to pull my hair outta my skull and jump through a set of flaming hoops doused in gasoline (or e85 cause i'm cheap)
