I did some research on this issue and at this time, I don't think it is worth the risk of using titanium retainers.
First of all, the rotating assembly weight savings on a street car should not affect performance at all.
Sure titanium is strong and weighs less than steel, but... it is more brital and can break easier.
On the K series motors, we have not seen any titanium retainer failure because the average joe with ti retainers and cams, change his motor setup every 5-10K miles... I mean.. As time goes by, I suspect to see some of these threads being made about people breaking their retainers and dropping a valve.
Other than honda OEM retainers which are designed to last a long time, I would think that chromoly steel retainers would also be better in the long run.
