If anyone has any information on how to do this please share!

Haven't even started the swap yet, but have almost all of the parts together and would love to do this while the engine is out of the car... I know that it doesn't fit directly with the stock oil pickup. Could I swap a K24 pickup or modify it somehow? I have access to a machine shop...

TIA for any info

Wow, not a bad deal at all for a brand new oil pump...

The question is: can I swap an oil-pump directly like that, or is Z3 oil pump, Z3 oil pump?

I suspect I am SOL for doing a direct swap, but you're definitely on the right track with that suggestion

(In case anyone is wondering why I am even thinking about this: the Z3 oil pan is a ginormous block of garbage. I'm installing the engine in an EK (with an EG subframe, so essentially an EG) and people typically only get 3.some inches of oil-pan to ground clearance. Not enough IMO:down: I'll be looking into making a skidplate but every bit of clearance counts when the roads are super garbage in some spots.)

Great information, thank you :D It sounds like the benefits of the huge K20Z3 oil-pump (better harmonics) are definitely limited, especially when it forces you to drive around with your oil pump 3 inches off the ground.

So if I swap pumps like that, I'm guessing a steel K24 pan would be a straight bolt on? Could I run an A2/Z1 pan if I want to for the pickup issue? Would it bolt to the Z3 tranny?

Thanks for the replies:up:

Double post inc.

After reading around a bit more, I am debating whether or not I want to swap pumps and pans at all. Because the car is going to be a DD and not a track car, the balance shafts on the Z3 pump are probably not a bad thing to have. Plus, the Z3 pump can actually do better in higher RPM ranges, and it's smoother at idle. source

As I see it, having the K24/Type-s pan might help me make a skid plate because of its less rectangular shape, but it wouldn't buy all that much actual clearance.

If anyone can share any numbers for how much taller a Z3 pan is than a K24/Type-s pan I'd really appreciate it
