How did you go about acquiring an OEM TPS?

-JT
:)
I bought the hybrid racing TPS because I didn't want to take my old OEM TB
apart. I got a skunk2 TB with new sensors all around. I didn't know at that time
that the TPS is such a big problem.. If I would have known, I would never had
bought a aftermarket TPS.

So I just took the OEM TPS off my old TB. :)

My TPS is reading around 30 when i click read with throttle closed and 110 with throttle wide open....

I have been advised to replace it, is this correct?

My only thoughts were some people mention if the TPS is set up at min & max in kpro it will work ok... not too sure what to believe...

ok i have the same problem people... on my 5th TPS already.. i had stock ones omni power, blox, and the last one was the hybrid racing and i pain like 100 for it . i thought the more expensive the better but guess not.. i honestly don no wat to do lol i had to get the car towed home . wouldnt let me go past like 2 grand... you think its a vibration problerm?? will that rubber gasket work?? please help lol

Im having a simillar issue, A local tuner advised me to change my TPS after some data logging with him, I managed to locate a Type S complete throttle body, I installed it today and KPRO says its 8% open.

I adjusted the throttle cable to the min and max opening of the butterfly.

How do i fix this?

i had the bwr/blackworks tps on my car for maybe 3 weeks since the swap and it didn't even last 500 miles...had to get my car towed home. thankfully it was only 10 miles. i did some research and the omni's are supposed to be same oem and thouroghly tested from what i hear, so that's what i got and it is reading a broader range than the bwr and no hesitation so far. omni claims to have an unconditional 5 year warranty on their tps, so hopefully if it does fail, i can get a new one for free...maybe keep an extra in the car just in case.

i was talking to brian at karcepts and you have to set up the tps properly. there is a page in the helms/service manual on how to do it, or if you have the junk2 throttle body and have the paper work that came with it, it also includes directions. the tps at fully closed is supposed to read between 900 and 1000 ohms between the center and lower pins. i set mine at 950 ohms and just scaled it in k-pro and it read -1.7% at closed position and 101.3 at WOT.

hope this helps

how are u suppose to do it on the junk2 tb? im having some problems with mine. the tps isnt opening up 100%, only going to 88% on the kpro. took the tps off and put it on the stock tb only opened up 90%... tryed my friends tb with his tps only went to 92%... anyone know what could be wrong?

its the sensor its self they are just made very cheap am on my 3 one the first two i bought never even work to begin with...i would hit the trottle and it just woudnt read noting in the begining and it would not read 100% at wot i would get between 70%to90%..and the third one was doing good in the begining and then one day i start my car early in the morning didnt rely let it warm up i took off and it would just cut the trottle i look like a danm jerk going down my street but once the motor warm up it would stop doing it.. it would be good car was drivible and then a week later check enigine light comes on but the car is drivible still but i wanted to know wat was the light for.. high voltage tps i see it in the chart and its reading 110% when trottle was closed and wot it would read 112%.....so i think is just how the sensors are being made we are going to keep having this problem till some1 makes them better built....when i was getting the car tune and the danm tps was acting up there it would read good and then it just would not read nutting or going up and down but then it would just be fine..

This is starting to happen in my car now. I have been through 3 TPS sensors. Does anyone know if using two of the gaskets would fix the problem?

me and a friend are making ITBs for a Dseries and we bought a set of CBR 600ITBs.....

low and behold it has a TPS jus like the kseries one...

same plug same name (Khein) and (Khein) is actualy stamped on the ITBs also...

so if anyone needs a new TPS sensor you can find it on those too.
FYI we paid $25 for the whole deal...

so if you find cbr600 itbs cheap buy them take the tps and sell the itbs for $20 again...

UPDATE. IT HAD A TPS FROM A CRV/BASE RSX. (TURNED 180*) SO NOT SURE IF ITL WORK THEN

i used a 2mm thick rubber gasket. havnt tried it yet.

id be willing to buy an aftermarket TPS if they are revised and durable.

this should be recalled by Honda..this seems to happen on motors in the original cars too..bogus

No. The only real fix is finding a real OEM tps from factory. Don't be fooled by kehin housings on aftermarket sensors, they are junk. Since I have got a real OEM one I have not had this issue any longer and we have several race weekends on it already.
Any after market TPS sensor is a waste of time and money.Omni and these other companies have made a killing off the public with these BS sensors.

Well my local shop just talked to HR. They know about the problem and said they arent selling anymore until they "figure it out". In the meantime, they told me to go find an OEM TPS sensor. They are also giving me my money back.

Well here is my solution to the problem after havings 3 aftermarket TPS sensor's fail on me I had enough. My brother and I took a washer and drilled two holes and used some 3/16 SS welding rod and welded it too the washer. Then we trimmed the rods and welded it too the throttle shaft (after we determined where 0 would be on the tps adapter). Then we machined a spacer because the bseries TPS is a Male not a female so it need more room to operate. The end result being I now have a TPS that has not failed after numerous races and 60 degree C engine temps thanks to being stuck on the highway.

I just recently had to replace a tps sensor as well. It didnt throw a code until after a while. When I start giving it some gas, it throws a high voltage for tps. Sympton started as a/f reading went to 16:1-32:1 while on idle .I had to add about 60percent overall fuel to drop it back down to 14:7-15.4 or so.

I was able to drive on that while waiting for my replacement tps to arrive... the new tps came in...installed it, recalibrated it and seems to be running good for now. I also had to replace 2 bad map sensors back to back as well...

A b series throtlle body will line up 3 holes onto a prc intake manifold....custom adapter plate blocking the iacv port and securing the b series on the rsx type-r manifold (eliminating the iacv ) would be a better choice for people not wanting to do the the custom throttle plate/tps holder. Just putting it out there.:D
