I've searched through some threads and could not find the answer to this question, so hopefully someone can shed some light on it. What is the "safe" limit for the stock K24A2 oil pump/balance shaft setup. I'm doing a mild build but want to know if I can use the stock pump without worry. Thanks!

General Rule is about:
7500 for K24 oil pumps
8400 for K20A/A2/Z1/Z3 oil pumps
8900+ for S2000 oil pump
7500 for K24 oil pumps
8400 for K20A/A2/Z1/Z3 oil pumps

While you can force the oil pump to spin at what ever RPM you desire, it does not mean that it is operating effectively. Hytech and ERL have both tested the OEM oil pumps, as have others, and they have found where cavitation occurs in them. I recommend reading this thread, there is some good info regarding this topic, as well some other good tid-bits of info.

It is just a general, recommended ceiling for the pump.
The weight of the oil can change what the limit prior to cavitation is.
Perhaps the extra rotating mass of the balance shafts may play a role. Perhaps they are not tested past the OEM rev limit on the K24 from the factory, and vibrate. I don't know, I haven't tested it. Just another unknown.
There are other factors to take into account as well, but personally, I would spend the $150 for a new K20 pump and know that I can take it to 7500-8000 RPM safely.
