No, I haven't seen that... but again, K series axles are ungodly expensive from the dealer, and hard to come by from other sources.

Almost everyone has spare B/D series axles lying around and if not, they can be purchased for $40-$70 at your local auto store.
You can get a set of low mileage RSX-S axles right here on K20a.org for under $150. All you need then is some B-series outers and you have a perfect matching set. This is however good to know if I ever break and axle on my driver side as my stock D-series axles will simply be laying around doing nothing after the swap.

Edit: Wait a second, You can put a RSX-S/R or RSX Base inner onto a D-series shaft? Does this mean I can use D-series(from a D16Z6) outers on my RSX-S axles?

haha..

any updates C-Speed?

It appears I answered my own question while posting a diffrent thread.
(This thread: http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23383)

1999-00 Civic Si(B16A2) - B-series axles :silly:
92-95 Civic Ex(D16Z6) - D-series axles :silly:

Both of those vehicles share the same part number for the OUTER CV joint. Check for yourself:

99 Si Link: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,c...1355598,parttype,2292,EPIsubcategory[316],Front+Outer+CV+Joint+Kit,partGroup,17
92-95 Ex Link:http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,c...1168837,parttype,2292,EPIsubcategory[316],Front+Outer+CV+Joint+Kit,partGroup,17

Before you say those links are the same, Check the long expanded version of the link as they are infact diffrent. It appears I have my answer, I am still however holding out for C-speeds confirmation of my findings.

Edit 2/11/07: It seems Rockauto has since removed the 92-95 EX link, possibly because they were listed incorrectly.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the delayed update... we've been mad busy at the shop... Anyways, had some time to play around with some axles today... here's the conclusion:

- B/D/K shafts all have the same SPLINES on both inner and outter joints.
- B and D share the same inner join hub bearings, bearing race and hub

Thus, if you want to use K inners on B/D shafts, then you must transfer the K inner bearing race onto the D shaft so that you can use the K bearings and hub and vice versa.

B/D outters ARE the same and interchangable and both are 32mm.

So, it is confirmed - D-series pass. side axle with B/K inner hub works on the driverside for EG K-swap with HAsport mounts.

Enjoy!

Good lookin out!

Have you found at anything as far as the passenger side goes for sure yet?

No you cannot. The stock B-series driver side axle is about 1/2"-3/4" too short to use on the passenger side, it is slightly stretched. As I said in the first post, in the relaxed state, the bearings in the hub on a B-series axle are too close to the edge already to the point where you can feel them through the boot - so you definately do not want to stretch it more. I will post measurements and pics tomorrow.
i know a couple of people that have used a whole b series driver side for the pass side, and didnt have issues. i dont know if u would want to race it like that, especially hard turns, but u could def use it to get around or home in a bind.

no mods like swappin inners or anything. just a straight bseries drivers side axle.

yep, u could ask midnightauto, bitsk20si, or 92 eH2 about it

Good to know info

I just wouldn't feel safe using D series axles though.
IMO: What's another $500 on axles when I'm dropping 6k into the motor

And like I said earlier, I didn't want to turn this thread into another debate, but here's proof why a B-series axle will not work on both sides:

B-series passenger side axle on the driver side, fully compressed:

So, if you really want to use them, go ahead - you've been warned. :p

What do you guys think about BASE model axles in the Eg? I have them in my crx without any probs, but I would like to put them into my Eg now i'm putting the same motor in there. Thanks -Ben

We are still working on a simple and inexpensive solution to this. However, I can assure you, that the stock B-series driverside axles is too short to use on the passengerside.

We currently use a DC5R passenger side axle on our race car. It works just fine, however if compared to the D-series on the driverside, the DC5R is about 1/4" shorter when you fully compress it back into the hub. Not bad, it works...but could be better. And again, DC5R axles are hard to come by and expensive. Keep in mind DC5R axles are about 10mm LONGER than the DC5 base and DC5S and IMO, are still about 1/4" short of "perfect".
So, are you using DC5R axles on yours with B/D series outers?
