Did you ever get to the bottom of this ? Looking at one locally that is also SPNM, can't find anything online about its origins.
The SPNM tranny code stands for the Honda Civic Type R (FD2) tranny. It has the same gear ratios and FD as the SPWM of the FN2 chassis. These are:
  1. 3.226
  2. 2.13
  3. 1.517
  4. 1.147
  5. 0.921
  6. 0.738
  7. FD 5.062

Or something that is 100% definitive ?
My data collection 🤣. I own a SPWM tranny and know this by 1st hand counting of teeth. The SPNM is by data of an FD2 website and from the data above posted by @drtye (s. FD2 chassis). For me it is safe enough to be sure both are simply the exact same.
