Fit and K20A2 What do I need?

I have an 07 Fit Sport M/T. And Today I just purchased a K20A2 Complete Changeover swap.

What do I need? Obviously the Hasport Mount Brackets.
What mounts? I have most of the Stock RSX TYPE S mounts.

I know that Jackson Racing is developing the Custom Header for Fitment in the Fit.

I Have the A2 ECU, a Key, and the Cluster from the A2.

I am assuming Hondata is necessary for some reason, can someone elaborate how and why?

Teaser Shots!

Axles I am going to have to contact Hasport and see where they sourced theirs.

Any Advice is welcome Thanks! Would like to complete ASAP! Have the itch now that I have the motor!

Yeah lol, I saw you on there after I posted that, my bad man. You have to understand that the Fit and RSX electircal systems are very different...Hasport can make a kit for the car, but they will not release it until they are completely satisfied that all of the bugs are worked out. That includes the motor running. The lack of a good tuning solution for this particular motor swap/chassis is my guess at what is holding it back...purely my speculation. The Fit and the new Si have a lot in common, and at the moment there is no K-pro solution available, not sure if AEM has one yet or not...

Yes, that is the easiest option...The two vehicles (02-04 RSX and Fit) use very different networks to control the electronics in the vehicle. This includes not only the engine, but the accessories as well. It is possible to use both ECU's, but it would require a good bit of knowledge of what each ECU controls and how to manipulate the network so that both receive the proper sensor inputs.

Here is Hondata's response to a similar question I asked a while back: http://www.hondata.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5735
"...The RSX ECU runs the water temp, charge light via the multiplex. The Civic Si runs the whole dash via multiplex...To use a RSX ECU in an 06 Si you would need to swap over the engine harness, body harness, dash harness, dash & cluster, throttle body, throttle pedal assembly, plus some other functions will never work, like the AC, cruise control. Also the throttle pedal is a plastic device which sits on the floor and the Si has not got any firewall mounts for the RSX style pedal. Anyhow, this is why we don't recommended using the RSX ECU (but it has been done for race cars)."

So, as you can see it is a complicated affair. My assumption is that the new Si and the Fit have some things in common as far as how the ECU manages the electronics in the vehicle. If that is so, and the dash functions are similar between the two, to include the DBW systems, maybe the 06 Si motor/harness can be swapped in easier and the Hondata Reflash can be taillored to the application. This is something that Hondata would have to confirm as they would probably be the best source of how the Fit and 06 Si ECU's function.

I do not mind losing DBW< but actually rather lose the DBW. Since The Fit has been overseas for a few years, the AUZ model and the Phillipines model are LHD and use Throttle cables, So I can get the pedal assembly from of of those models, and then work around the DBW, also be able to use the PRB computer.

We'll see.... I have to speak to hasport and hondata, or just wait for the mass production harness conversion..... using two computers.

were are you located?
I'm assuming you are asking b/c you have in your signature that you do work. I'm a Ford Technician by day. Honda performance by night! SO I'm fine in that department.

Otherwise, I'm on the East coast on Long Isalnd (New York). Why do you ask?

Any advise or pointers? This is my first k20 swap into a new styled/wired car like the '07 FiT that has multiplexing.

I hear that the new Civic 8th gen has the same problems with people who want to use an A2 computer.

TO : "signalpuke"

You said that their is a way of using the K20A2 ECU and that is by using the entire car's electrical system from the RSX.

You also mentioned that Hondata sad that you would need the Dash and cluster. Well, I have the cluster, I don't think that the dash would directly bolt in, PLUS I want to kee my airbags for safety sake!

Do you think I could just use the harness from the car/dash? Has anyone done this before?

There was a picture of the harness I was referring to in this thread, but the image seems to be down. http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21915

The reason you would have to swap the dash in the Fit or the 06+Si is that when you use K-pro (which can only be installed on 02-04 ECUs) the dash will lose all function. The only way around this is to swap the RSX dash into the vehicle, or run 2 ECU's and a complex wiring harness.

This problem will be remedied as more vehicles are produced and the test equipment to diagnose CAN come down in price. This will happen eventually as all MY 2008 vehicles will use this standard. If it doesn't come from the Honda aftermarket tuning community it will probably come from the Mitsu or Nissan crowd, as the new Evo with its DSG tranny and the Skyline will both be in need of this same technology.

For a little insight of the CAN standard this brief summary will help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controller_Area_Network

That is my reasoning for thinking that the 06 Si and Fit have enough in common that a engine swap will be possible while retaining the dash functions. This is yet to be proven, just my speculation. If it is true, then swapping the 06 Si engine into the Fit and using the Hondata Reflash for the Si may be a solution.

Maybe I can custom wire up two ECU's..... I can do that.... after many many beers and hours:wine: .... THanks for the idea!

THere is not a whole lot of electronics on the dash of a fit. All of the climate controls are turn knobs no EATC (Electronic automatic temperature control.)
I guess it is waht ever functions I would have to snip and patch into the A2 Ecu for the cluster to read it.

I just orders both Helms books (Electrical Troubleshoot schematic books)

I have to give them a good look over!

if you need any help with the wiring i could give you some good advice, i make a couple jumper harness's for Hondata. the rsx has a pultiplex like the fit but you may have to use both computers to get the cluster to work because of the B-can

Thanks for the heads up and lookin out, I WILL definately be asking you questions as I wire this beast up! Yeah I realize that I will have to use two ECU's and the stock cluster.
