One or two small jobs ticked off the list.

Strut to knuckle upper bolt holes drilled out for 16mm bolts and new camber offset plates made.

Battery on the scales and carbon tray made ready for fitting.

Oil tank bulkhead access panel all prepped ready to lay carbon then into the oven...

Front steering arms / threads all checked to make sure there's enough engagement whilst accommodating the increased track width. Drivers side LCA spacer taken down a touch on the lathe to cure a slight binding issue.

Box drilled for clutch feed and bleed lines. Had to fit it to make sure feed length is spot on. It'll be back out tomorrow to do the fittings on the box end of the hoses and for a couple of final measurements before getting a trumpet machined specific for the clutch then mated to the block again.

MC rods all cut / fitted to the pedal box so once it's back in it won't be coming back out.

Short term look adhead: Windows out tomorrow, that'll allow for a small repair to metal on the drivers side where the arch bolts on (only real bit of rust on the chassis, not bad for a 23yr old car!), take the last bit of sound deadening off the dash area, figure out how to mount the wiper motor, rub down the roll cage, paint inside. Be nice to get to that stage and have a clean canvas inside the cabin / engine bay to start getting the loom together.

Very nice progress on the chassis side Doug.
Thanks Markus. Very appreciative to have a co-worker on this one as free time between work and recent family issues is a bit too thin on the ground for me at the moment.

Still plenty to do but every day is one step closer to turn key. 🙂

Yeap, its very good to have found occupations to ground oneself in challenging times.

Yeap, there is plenty of work ahead. Step by step the squirrel works for the Winter season preparation...seems a successful stragegy :).

Nothing too exciting happening right now, scuttle modified for the Bosch motor.

Cut / folded after making the template..

Focus now is mostly on interior prep for paint and sorting out arch fitment so nothing jazzy to show for a while!

On a rainy race day, maybe the most important safety feature. Looks very good Doug. How far does the whipe arm dive into drivers view?
Haha, that and tyre choice!

30-150deg sweep with park at 90. Little bit of work to do still for arm / blade but should have good enough covarage. 👌

Yeah, the list of safety features likely have some further items :).

What frequency range do you run this arm? BTW, are hill climbs in the UK done in tipping down rain conditions?

That I still need to look into but I believe the rubber mounts can extend that. I got them more for preservation of electronics rather than increased frequency. Whether that's another pre set thing from factory I'm not sure, will deal with that later.

Not usually Markus. Very rare to have standing water level of rainfall over a whole weekend. RainX does a good job itself so hopefully wiper won't need to be deployed too much. The 1.6kg drop is more important to me...

I am digging those PCI tie rods/bump steer items. I may go that route in the future. I am stuck with the Hardrace Inner & Outer Tie Rods and SHG slider.

Are you running stock rear lower control arms? I read that the stock arms allow twist and that twists aids in the Trailing arms's movement.

Both upper and lower rears are Hardrace Spherical.

OK thank you for the reply.

Have you had any issues with the lower control arm or finding there is improvement still needed in the rear suspension performance?

I have PCI Spherical Upper arms and Ktuned hardened rubber arms. Hardrace hardened rubber in the trailing arms and knuckles.

I had Hardrace upper when the car was last out and another brand of lower arms, zero issues with both. Keep in mind that's not on a road car.

Re-engineering the rear is outwith my scope of capability so can't really comment if there's scope for improvement although clearly there is going by BTCC design. I know Brian altered the strut location with his own car but after having had a chat with Moton (AST) they had suggested that was more of a fixing a problem with the strut design he was using than improving overall design.

Little by little...

Longblock back in for mock up after finalising release bearing trumpet sizing.

No more orange roll cage. What a PITA it was stripping this back!

Few more extra bits of metal removed...

Primer going down...

Roof will get a covering of 3mm neoprene to help quieten things down inside instead of paint.

Dash has been given the same but 1.5mm as it's just for stopping reflection.
