I've been reading many articles, posts, stickies etc...about the swap...

Just wondering what you guys would have done differently with your swaps? Was there something you changed quickly after buying it...found something that didn't work...something you should have bought to make things easier?

I understand its not a cheap swap, Im not looking for shortcuts, just looking for more insight.

Any input would be appreciated.

Best advice I can give is spend time reading peoples build threads. See what they did that you liked... See what you don't like... Also learn the gotchas that other people encountered.

Because of the cost of the swap, my suggesetion would be to do it the way you want the first time. Try not to buy things with the plans of replacing them.

The only significant thing that I would have done differently was to go with a 5-lug conversion to simplify axles and get the brake setup that I wanted right up front as I ended up completely redoing my brakes.

I think i've gone through EVERY build thread on here, and keep updated with them. Good advice tho!

Kpro is going to be my first purchase. That has been hands down the single biggest advice from the build threads and over topic threads.

Thanks!

what rbsjhn said .
im guilty of always doing all the mods my car is gonna have at the same time and i get bored right away and sell it.
i built a 300 hp pump gas car got bored with it right away and sold it in 5 weeks.
so in my opinion it would be better to get it running then up grade , that way you learn to do the things you can do yourself and have alot of fun while doin it.
remember its not always fun but there nothing like challenging yourself and building something with your own hands .

this whole thing is about having fun so don't get too crazy at 1st go gradually
and i guarantee your experience will be extremely satisfying.

good luck with whatever you do..

finish something. don't skip around and do half on this and half on that. remember to do it right the first time and only stray away from your main objective at hand if you see a deal that you believe you will pay for later on by not jumping on it when you did.

group buys and patience will make your build cheaper and more rewarding.

I think some people get in over their head, going all out with the swap and realize later on that they weren't ready for the bill.
And whatever you do, do not pay for your swap with a credit card!!! A lot of people end up abandoning the swap because they underestimated the cost. I think that I collected parts for nearly 18months before I did the swap.

I already bought a swapped car, because of the retarded price. I was crazy over the K, and just wanted one.

...I'm collecting parts slowly and eventually might re-do the swap. With this being said, I still don't have regrets, because the car is very much driveable and it's only the little details which bother me. (i.e. previous owner had it setup according to his needs etc).

Saved myself the headache of sourcing a motor and having it shipped, and then finding a proper shop to have it swapped bla bla bla
