I would recommend getting upgraded axles for your specific application.

The problem with using stock axles is that the tripod usually sits to far out on the passenger side and the driver side axles does not lock into the tranny.

If you are using Hasport mounts i would recommend getting there axles.

If you are using Hybrid Racing mounts i would recommend getting hybrid racing axles.

They are both made by the same company, but different lengths.

I agree there are tons of Honda axles out there, but finding the right one making them etc may not be worth it for some people.

Hasport and hybrid racing use Driveshaftshopaxles. Their stage 1 axles are not strong at all. The are nowhere close OEM honda axles.

My friend broke a set of stage 1 axles after droping the clutch on street tires at 5000 rpm.

I emailed and called DSS and this is a copy of our communication

Subject: About the stage 1 axles k20a EG hasport that broke
Date: Wed, 13 Oct 2004 11:21:40 -0400 (EDT)

Hello,

I called this morning and asked about a set of stage 1 k series axles that
broke. The car was a stock k20a Civic EG, and was on street tires. he
launched at 4000-5000 RPM and this is what happened

http://www.k20a.org/upload/snapdss.JPG

http://www.k20a.org/upload/snapdss1.JPG

I was told on the phone by DSS that the stage 1 axles are not intended for
drag racing/street racing. Basically, I was under the impression that the
stage 1 axles will perform like the honda OEM rsx axles meaning that they
owuld be able to handle "slipping the clutch" a few times. Apparently this
axle broke on this first attempt to launch the car.

I would like to know:

1) If we could get a free axles to replace the broken one

2) If a we could get a discount on stage 2 or stage 3 axles.

Again, I want to emphasize that I understand that the stage one axles are
not guaranteed for drag racing/street racing but the car was on street
tires and this kind of abuse in axles I see in daily driven cars so I am
concerned about the strength of stage 1 k20a EG axles.

I own k20a.org , a 3000 registered user community and I often asked to
give my opinion about what axles people should buy. If the stage 1 axles
are indeed that weak, I don't think I would recommend them to anyone.

Thank you for your time,

Nikos

Hello again,
Since the axles were shipped in Australia, and shipping is close to $150,
I have to think about what kind of axles I will buy.

I need to know for you, what kind of material you make these outers from?

Here are some additional pics

I also saw a stage 2 set break this exact way.

Please comment on these pics,

Nikos
Profab has some axles for $250 a set and stage 2 is only $80 more I think... I talk to the onwer there and I am waiting to see how these axles perform on KATMAN'S car.

You can also use prelude shafts with GSR/EK outers and RSX inners.

The Hybrid Racing hatch uses DSS Stage One axles. These axles are custom made for Hybrid Racing and are different from the Hasport DSS and pro fab units.

You can see the hatch with the stage one axles in the videos located here: http://www.hybrid-racing.com/gallery.html

We have launched it at 6000rpm on 22in slicks as well as 8000 rpm on 24in slicks. With no problems at all!

I will get some video of this and post it in the next update.

The Pro-Fab axles, DSS Hasport axles, and DSS Hybrid Racing axles are all different and designed to be used with there respective engine mounts.

they are different in length but I would imagine they use the same internal parts. That is why they are STAGE 1. I talked on the phone with them and they told me that their stage 1 axles are not strong enough for burnouts etc...

Someone I know broke stage 2 axles and then uppgraded to stage 5 $1500 from DSS... but damn... that is a lot of money.

The set that broke wasn't the only one. I know more than a few that have broken the stage 1 axles. with b series, people are using OEM axles all day long at the drag strips and I would expect no less with the K.
