I was just talking about smacking oil pans today, and go figure, while I was out running some errands it happened... I should have slowed down to drive through a construction area more carefully but I didn't... Smash, high spot on the road and my oil pan is toast... Worst part of this is that it tore off a small piece of the girdle with it... What a f***ing PITA

Motor will be coming out...

Has anyone else been through this... If so, post up.

Pics:

Pics of my broken girdle. This pisses me off the most...

dang, what a coincidence. i just hit mine today, and now theres a thread on it. i wasnt thinking when i went over the speed bumps, it didnt happen with the 2 speed bumps i went over, then the 3rd, was a bang. all i can tell is its scraped up, thats all. it may be nothing when it happens, but it really makes me gringe my teeth.

I'm gonna post some pics of it. Mine is totalled... Shattered like glass.

I'm a little worried about the girdle/crank brace. There is a piece ripped off the backside. Hopefully a good welder I know can breathe some life back into it. We'll see, I have the complete piece and the break was pretty clean from what I can see.

 to Albert @ Certified Racing, he has been helping me out this afternoon, and it looks like I'll be using a steel oil pan when I get the engine up and running again...

I remember hitting a bolder rock. I thought it was plastic ohh man was a worried. I hit it so hard the rock shattered. The brute off the hit on my traction bar and mark is still there. Luckly I have a tsx oil pan :) like a 1/2-.75" dent...if it was a type S oilpan it would be long destroyed. :wow:

The RSX-S oil pan is aluminum so it shatters when hit hard enough... The K24 oil pan is steel and from what I'm hearing along with bossman's incident, they are stronger and offer better ground clearance. Perfect for my situation...
