Hello there guys, I'm new to this forum and Honda stuff in general..
I'm looking for plenty advice :)

I want to know where the best place to buy a k-pro from and who has a good reputation for mapping them etc.
Also if there is any uk company that sells k tuned and hybrid racing bits?

Cheers peeps

Cheers for the help guys.

Spoke to one of those company's today about a hybrid racing shifter. Turns out they are rediculously expensive. £700 for shifter cables and box. The guy was adamant the stock shifter cables are shite and I'll be going through gearbox's if I use standard cables with my trackday car.

What are your guys personal experiences? I'm not after hear say but facts about what people have found out.

How many K-series cars has Honda sold? Do they have a service bulletin for shifter cables?

I drove the piss out of mine and never had any issues with the shifter or cables.
Your backing up exactly what I'm thinking.

I'm not stupid enough to for for sales pitches nor do I want to buy parts that aren't worth the money/or needed.

The second a company tries to sell me things they know are not needed will be the second I'll stop using them.

There are a lot of good products out from multiple companies that are 'not needed' to get the swap going. Some are aesthetic, and some are performance related. The shifter boxes, I feel, are more for people that a 'bolt-on' solution for older chassis. If you want to use the OEM box in older chassis, you either have to cut the transmission/exhaust tunnel, or bolt the shifter box on top of it.

It also improves the feel from what I have been told, to make it feel closer to a B-series or other linkage type shifter. Some people are not use to driving a car with a cable shifter mechanism. I know the difference between driving the K-swap and driving a Supra are very noticeable in feel while shifting.

Bottom line, it isn't required. Do some people want it, or prefer it? Sure. But it isn't needed to complete the swap. Most 'swap' parts are not needed, other than mounts, wiring harness, axles, or K-pro.

That's a good point, and I agree with what your saying.

From my point of view a nice set of shifter cables is a "want" not a "need". But for a reputable company to tell me if I use stock shifter cables I'll be breaking gearboxs I think is ridiculous.

Agreed. Hype and advertising is becoming stronger and stronger as the economy stays in a weakened state. Just stay concentrated on what you need for the swap, and get it running. Later you can replace the parts, or dress it up if you like, when you sort out what you dislike about the factory configuration.

I totally agree with you. Most of the stuff that companies sell is not needed. I only ever purchase mounts, harness and header off a company and use oem parts for everything else I.e shifter box, cables, rad, hoses, fuel rail, brake lines, oem k + b hybrid axles and so on. I then source a k pro and get the car mapped. Cheap, cheerful and affordable.
