I guess this is my quick intro...
A friend of mine told me about the possibility of swapping the new RSX-S motor into an older Civic, and this seemed like it would be a great idea. So I found this website last night, and I now think I've read almost every post ever made on this site. I currently own and regularly autoX a 95 BMW 318i which also functions as my daily driver and snowboard hauler. I have been corner working at my local road racing tracks to save credits for track days.
Anyways, I used to own a 97 Civic LX (from 99-04) until it was stolen last summer. I absolutely love my BMW and its handling, but now that I'm looking for a track rat I don't think I can justify spending the huge amounts of money on prepping a BMW every weekend for DEs and occasional autoXs. I've looked into the RX8, the Mazdaspeed Protege, and several Miatas, but I think I'm a Honda/BMW elitist because the only cars I like are Hondas and BMWs (mainly the pre-2006 models).
I finish college in December and should have a secure job shortly thereafter, so I've already begun the search for a Civic (EK hatch/coupe or EG coupe). I will be keeping my BMW as my daily driver until it dies, then I will buy another BMW as my daily driver.
I will hopefully be able to join the K20/24 community within the next couple years when I undertake building a fun-to-drive-on-the-track Civic. I have many questions about suspension set-ups, but I will keep searching/reading and get specific if I cannot find exactly what I need.
One question about which I keep getting mixed responses is: are the K-series motors lighter than the B-series motors?
