how much perload do yall put on you tensioner i'm installing the bc stg 3 and with a couple of clicks on the hybrid racing tct and the chain still slaps but when i pry on the guide to get more clicks to the point the tct doesnt have anymore movement the chain doesnt slap anymore does that sound correct? and is that safe on the guides and tct to have it so tight?

If you had stock TCT i would say 2-3 clicks. I had chain slap when i installed my skunk2 cams preloaded it 2 clicks which was the most i got out of it.

However Hybrid Racing as stated DO NOT PRELOAD their tensioner. They said if you cant jut pull the pin or screw and the chain isnt tight using their tensioner then you got a stretched chain.

Trust me Russ from Hybrid Racing said do not preload their tensioner. I thought you could but he wanted to make sure that i knew with their tensioner it doesnt need preloading.

yes the earlier hr tct can be preloaded. i have one, when i installed my crowers it took two clicks, the other cams i had were hytech's iirc and they took three clicks. i have always done the minimum it took to stop the chain from lifting off the cam gear.

i knew earlier ones didnt have do not preload i thought he was talking about the version2. i would still ask Russ from HR if preloading is good for V1 just for good measure. nothing against u man just a precaution..

So im assuming with ANY aftermarket cams there will be chain slap then... i thought it was with the skunk2 lol

ahh thats a nice trick lol using zip tie to the chain guides! i just pryed on the tct to get my two clicks. Next time ill do the zip tie method

when i installed my crowers i called them and they(hybrid) said was fine to preload 1 or 2 clicks. dont know if all cams do but i do know but the hytech spec a, crower 2 3/4, and brian crower 2's all had to have preload. all ran fine also with no abnormal issues. hr tensioner and oem.

yea my bc stg 3 with 1-2 clicks the chain is jumping alot on ever 1/4 turn but then i preload it with 3 clicks most of it went away i will post a vid

You don't preload the new Hybrid TCT's. You might've preloaded old ones but you don't and shouldn't preload the new ones. Russ is very adamant about this, both in person and on the forums.

IMO, Those aren't reason's. If you have those issues replace the chain or replace the cam's.

The whole reason the tct can expand more is BECAUSE of timing chain stretch. It's literally there for when the chain is stretched it expands more to control the chains motion.
