hey are there any of you guys out there that mod these cars and keep the warrenty by swapping parts back or doing secretive things like 06 tsx cams and keeping the warranty?

what the heck do you mean SECRET mods...

you mean in case your motor breaks, you swap the stock parts back on before going to the dealers?

I don't get the point of this question/thread...it's pretty pointless

Basically, that's what I was getting at. I want to mod my car but I don't want to kill my warrenty. I pretty much figured out I'm going to just put coilovers and gramlights and leave it alone for now.

Talk to the service manager of the dealer you visit to see what he thinks about modding the car...

of course the dealer is going to say don't mod your car. that's a given.

Modding something on your car does not void your warranty in general. It just voids whatever you modded's warranty. does that make sense? so if you lowered your car and then you bring in your car with some suspension problems, they will blame it on your coilovers.

On the other hand if you lowered your car and something went wrong with lets say your motor, they still have to cover it, unless they somehow find the cause of hte motor failure was due to the suspension mod.

they will always try to give you trouble no matter what.

Yah I dot blame you for wanting to customize your car but still try and find the best to do it since you have your warranty.

Some things to think about.....if you want it bad enough you'll sacrifice something to get it. And to have nice gains staying oem most of the time won't deliver as good of gains. Hopefully with the good info on the site you'll be able to decide if it's worth it or not.

I did sell cars for a very big dealership here in the Midwest. And going with dc5civic, they will always find something wrong. As for warranties, I know that even changing tire sizes can void warranties and it doesn't even have to be tire related. They look at it as "the tires that come on it were tested for the specific vehicle and are guranteed to work along with everything else." If something else were to go wrong they will notice that you've changed tires and somehow tie that to what went wrong. Interchange tires for misc part of choice.

take what ever part you buy, and force the stealership to install it. that way, they have to warrant their parts!

also, how are they going to know that you swapped TSX cams with your Si cams? they'll only know if A) YOU tell them, B) they use a micrometer to check the duration and lift of the cams. but what are the odds of that happening?
if you are worried about warranty, do go to the extreme with your mods.
for example, do buy a stroker kit and then have some noob for a technician tune your car and have the valves hit the pistons etc etc

i got my dealership to put my suspension on my car before delivery, and its covered.

I would let the dealership install any type of mods you want done to you car man. Even the 06 TSX cams. I would stop by and ask them about installing cams. Of course before you purchase them. The only thing they can tell you is yes or no.

Come to think about the cam situation, how would they know if you have those cams in there man? They may give you a run around about it, just get a good shop to install them for you.

why are you worried about the cams anyways? now if you were doing high comp pistons and like skunk2 stage 3 cams and like a stroker kit or something rediculous like that, then worry then, but they arent going to be taking your valve cover off to look at your cams, and they arent going to dyno your car and so' OH HE HAS MORE POWER THAN STOCK, IT MUST BE THE CAMS' lolz they wouldnt go that far. but the people at the stealership are like cops, they are smart, but they are VERY stupid

just do w/e...and put back to stock when you have problems
