I bought the Del Sol around Feb 2007 as a project vehicle. Was mulling around with the idea of a sleeper. Wasn't looking for a RWD or AWD vehicle. Too much of an advantage there. I didn't want a Civic or Integra as they're far too common. I wanted something known to be slow. Decided upon the "Del Slo". It's getting either a K20Z3 (06 Civic Si) or K24A1 (02+ CRV) engine. K20Z3 is already ready. K24A1 needs to be bored out still and would need the crank pulley, water pump and head from the other engine. Don't really want to crack open a essentially new engine yet though (~60,000 kms).

Car had some front end damage done to it. Removed radiator support to put a brand new, unbent one on. Too poor for one at the moment. Drilled out spot welds.

12.5:1 87.5mm pistons for K24 engine. I think I'll try the K20Z3 first though.

Decided to start on the back end. Removed 4 lug hubs to replace with ITR 5 lugs later on. Trailing arms already set up for disks. Shorter spindle can be used but need a Mazda Protege axle nut.

Part of the bearing was stuck on the spindle on the right side. Using a bearing separator in conjuntion with my puller to get the last piece off.

One upper arm was seized. Had to cut the bolt. Too bad part of the bolt is still stuck in the threaded part. :( Camber kit will need to wait until I get the bolt out or get a new trailing arm.
<Sorry, I'm missing this pic>

Since the rear is jacked up, replacing the ITR suspension on my car with new BC Racing (BC Racing is not Buddy Club) coilovers. Also installing ASR subframe brace and Function7 control arms.

No more need for the previous owner's tie bar!

ASR subframe brace installed for now without the sway bar and brackets.

More to come later.

Thanks all! Unfortunately my build won't be as pretty as some... Can't afford any new paint after losing my job and all. But I'll make it a track car for now. No need to look pretty. :) I've gotta find a new trailing arm unless I can manage to drill out the damaged bolt in my trailing arm. But then I'll need a 10mm x 1.25 tap. Hope my new job works out!

Hey, thanks Mike! Any deals for Canadian customers? ;) I currently have the DC sports header and pairing that up with a K20Z3 for now. But I kinda worry about header clearance when I have the K24 finished. That's on the back burner though. What I like about your guys' budget header is that you've got the 1-4 and 2-3 pairings and works with K24s in an EG/DC chassis.

There were a few other items I was looking at but I think I've just about got everything I need for now.

I'll go make some right now. :D I've been lazy. Plus was trying to figure out how to fix the seized bolt in my trailing arm where it connects to the upper control arm (or camber kit). Had already cut most of the arm out but had to drill a hole through the bolt and go up in size until I could clean it out with a tap. It was kinda tough getting it centered but managed to. :D

Anyway, updates... I'll put my Skunk2 camber kit on shortly. Engine will have to wait until I get my brake lines fixed.

Well, here's my mini-update...

Skunk2 camber kit. Definitely need them now since I had to cut through my stock upper arm.

S2 camber kit installed!!! Also shown are BC Racing (not the same as Buddy Club) coilovers. Bought from HR back before they changed their online store.

Kopr Kote to ensure nothing get seized up. Also good rust protection! Also need to switch to ITR 5 lug setup later on.

Quick update. Tore apart my damaged ITR trailing arms for the hub/bearings. Here's a test fit of my 06-08 Civic EX wheels... Offset seems good! Car originally had fat fives, it'll be going back to fat fives... For a nice updated OEM look. :D

From left to right... K24A1, blown K20A2 block, K20Z3 and in front of blown K20A2 is the K20Z3 tranny converted to work with RSX style cables and shifter.

It's going to be a slow build though... It should perform okay but it's out of my budget now to make it look nice too. :( I got laid off from a really nice paying job. Now I'm trying to learn something new (car sales) and pay my mortgage. :(

are you going to delete the heater hoses? im going with a k20z3 swap myself. and trying to get as much info as possible
For now, yeah. If this ever becomes a daily driver again, I'll have a heater core in place. I ended up gutting the car's interior.

And Texasnick, are you part of the CSCC (Calgary Sports Car Club)? I met a bunch of those guys earlier this week at Stratotech, the track located around Fort Saskatchewan. I didn't drive as my RSX isn't quite track-ready. Running OEM suspension. :( It's too bad about Race City too...

No I'm not in the SCC. I need to build my "sports car" first haha. Yeah that does suck about Race City. I'll be making my way up to Castrol every Friday once it shuts down and my CRX is ready to track.

LOL I'm too scared to delete the heater hoses. Brrrrrrrrr.......
