Recently rebuilt my motor with the addition of eagle rods, cp (stock comp) pistons, clevite bearings, cometic head gasket, composite intake manifold gasket, new spark plugs, and skunk2 high compression valves. Aside all that, I had the machine shop bore out my cylinders to 87 (1mm overbore because of some scoring), resurface my head and perform a valve job. Everything on motor was assembled in order with proper torque specs on new hardware. Timing was correct and motor cranked smoothly. Intake manifold and injectors were set aside and untouched until reinstalling the motor (wasn't able to relieve the fuel pressure so I had no choice. Anyways everything was reinstalled, sealed, and torqued to proper specs. All sensors in correct locations. EVERYTHING worked before removal.
So now, the only differencs that matter are the 87mm bore, that head resurface, and high comp valves. All fluids are at right levels.
When attempting to start car for first time, it wound turn over but not fire. Attempted to see spark jump on open plugs and shocked myself when key was turned ha ha... So the spark plugs are getting power. Anyways the car doesn't have that same sound when the key is turned. Usually has the pulsating crank sound followed by the engine starting. This time has a smoother sounding cranking noise with no firing. We could smell the fuel when the spark plugs were out so the fuel system still works.
Plan to test compression soon but what else could the problem possibly be? All ring gaps and clearances were well within spec, valves lapped and seated, and head torqued down.
One last thing, premium fuel in the tank has been sitting for about two months. Probably doesn't matter too much but just saying.
