Hi guys, today I drove to the canyon with some friends. On the way back, Downhill the engine started revving by it self, when is on neutral. It revs from 1.5k RPM to 2k RPM, and sometimes it does it from 2k RPM to 3k RPM by it self. I really don't know what is going on with the motor, have this happen to anyone's motor before? I have a k20a2 by the way, around 33000 miles on it.

You may need to clean or replace your idle air control valve.

Yeah, it is a vacuum leak somewhere...what year is the motor? How long ago was the swap done? Did the motor sit a while?

Also, my check engine light turns on everytime when I go up hill. This happen when I'm in 5th, 6th gear going up hill. When is at 3rd gear is fine.

And the check engine turns on if it idles more then 2 - 3 mins.

The motor is a 2003, swapped 2006. tuned by jeffy evans. I drive it twice in a week for about 2 hour each time.

i was with jdmr when we did the canyon run and i believe the vacuum leak could be coming from the karcepts t/b adapter. ive read that 2 of the adapter plate bolts need rtv silicone to seal up. can anyone link us the fix?

Yeah, that as well as new gaskets is recommended when swapping/replacing a throttle body.

we took out the idle air control valve it is spotless, and we seal it the adapter plate bolts. Now is alot better, is there anything else we can do? Should I get gaskets for both side of the adapter?

Mine has done this twice,

Once was just driving normally,

In a small bit of traffic started going up and down max 3000rpm,

Turned the car off and back on and it stopped straight away,

The other time was when i was away for a weekend,
Parked the car up on friday night,
Took the ECU out and i put it back in Tuesday morning,
Started going up and down again, tried the turning it on and off and that didnt solve it,
The car was low on petrol the second time,
So i pulled into a petrol station, filled it up turned the car on and it was fine???

As for mine car, I turned off the engine and turned it on the engine is still doing the same thing.

If you are using kpro, then please get a datalog showing the problem you are experiencing. Very good way for people to give good advice from there.

i second that. especially going up hill in 5th and 6th gear, putting more load on the engine.
