What is this port for and is it necessary? I have always been told its the IACV port.

Sorry if it seems like a moronic question but I have a customer considering the new RRC manifold which does not have one and I don;t want him to get stuck with a manifold he can not use or has to buy something expensive to make it work.

If you're going to add a spacer in order to adapt the 02-04 K20A2 throttle body, than I would just add a port in the spacer and that's the end of it.

It is for the IACV. If you're going to use the RRC manifold, the iacv is disabled. Personally i use a RPM b series TB and it doesnt have an iacv and the throttle plate just stays open a hair to have enough air to idle.

The pic show is an RBC manifold, and the answer you gave I already knew but this thread isn't about that. I sell about 10 RBC kits a week and all I wanted to know is if the IACV port was necessary and can it be eliminated..

If it's for a street car, than the IACV is needed for the engine to idle properly.

If you're going to install a RRC intake manifold, than you will make a adapter plate to install your 02-04 K20A2 throttle body and on this spacer you will drill and tap a fitting in order to re-introduce a IACV passage way to the RRC intake manifold.

Completely false.

If you want a stable idle between 750 and 850rpms you need a IACV in the equation. Also, if it's a street car and is used in temperatures below 40F, you need the IACV.

My car idles perfect. Even when it is cold. Maybe the "book" says it cant be done, but in reality it can.
