Anyone here ever remove them from their builds. I know the norm is to keep them, but was just curious if anyone has done this yet? Thanks Steve

yeah its more of a question on which pistons your using and reliablity issues..

Stock pistons i would keep them since they do cool them down.

Forged pistons i would remove them.

We just had a K20A2 come thru the shop with 4 malfunctioning oil jets. Remember that they usually fail in the open position. The lack of oil pressure at idle really scarred the crank.

i'm running oil squirter plugs on my gsr motor with coated itr pistons. 2 of the squirters broke so i just plugged them. i have an extra set of plugs if anyone needs them. forged pistons will be fine without them due to the full floating wrist pin. plugging them increases oil pressure and provides more lubrication to the bearings.
