Preliminary Toda spring analysis (as per Toda provided installed height):

Toda Intake
70 lbf at 1.587", valve closed
213 lbf at 1.078", valve open

Toda Exhaust
70 lbf at 1.587", valve closed
193 lbf at 1.135", valve open

The Toda spring only has .052" of clearance between full lift and coil bind. Based on spring force alone, Toda springs are marginally acceptable if they are to be used in conjunction with IPS-K2's.

Complete Harmonic and valve motion analysis will verify with utmost certainity if Toda Springs can be considered compatible. We'll report once that has concluded.

Now, for our recommended OEM valvespring combination - here are the requested specifications. Please understand that both Toda and OEM valve springs are not constant, thus the only pertinent fact that can be derived or stated - is that they are non-linear, it changes as the spring moves through its range.

Intake Outer (Yellow)
56 lbf at 1.625"
179 lbf at 1.116"

Intake Inner (Red)
18 lbf at 1.450"
64 lbf at 0.941"

Intake total (Yellow/Red combo)
74 lbf valve closed
243 lbf valve open

Exhaust Outer (Yellow)
56 lbf at 1.625"
163 lbf at 1.173"

Exhaust Inner (Red)
18 lbf at 1.450"
58 lbf at 0.998"

Exhaust total (Yellow/Red combo)
74 lbf valve closed
221 lbf valve open

The above spring rates differ between intake and exhaust with respect to the high speed lobes' requirement for each respective profile. This showcases the non-linear function of the recommended OEM valve spring combo and explains how the exact setup yields varying spring rates for two distinct applications (intake and exhaust).

One feature that we are proud to highlight and can be deduced from all of this, is that IPS-K2's and IPS-Kme's will work to a higher rpm than the stock cams with the OEM valve spring combo because the required spring force with IPS' is the same or lower than stock; AND, the provided spring force is greater with IPS camshafts compared to stock.

IPS-Kme's with the same OEM valve spring combo are safe to 8700rpm and perhaps even to 9100rpm. We will report back once testing has concluded. Keep in mind, all IPS camshaft profiles have been designed with durability and longevity as targets. The valvetrain is very happy and shows no foreseeable magnitudes or harmful harmonics within prescribed parameters.

Anyone has anything to say about the new supertech valvetrain that's being offered with the new 8620 k2? Not much has been documented here if this valvetrain has the same satisfactory results as the eibach.

Can I safely say the supertech's is IPS recommended valvetrain beside the eibach's?

that's a good question.
[email protected] said for k series all he had to offer currently was supertech, although if you wanted eibach or anything else he would most likely be able to source it for you.

my guess is, after reading the FAQ on the IPS website, that if IPS cams require less valve spring pressure than stock cams (if i read it right), supertech should be definitely okay to use with IPS. [email protected] offers them, and the vendors offering the IPS cams offer them, so they should be sufficient. a lot of b series guys have used them with no complaints, so i'm guessing they're not bad. are they the best? probably not, but perhaps they are more than enough. *shrugs*
