i did sum reading on the k20 cam gear and its a 50 degree cam gear just curious if it would provide any benifits on a k24a4 no k20 head or even work without breaking anything

please and thank you before hand new to k series
k24a4 uses 50 degree vtc

hey doc
which base map should I start with on KPRO
I have k20a Type R engine 2003 I live in california
so I have 91 Gas

should I start with K20a2 type S with ITR cam map or ITR map with headers and exhaust and intake
either should do

dumb question cant seem to find an answer, im gonna be running nitrous and the closest shop to fill the bottle is 45 min away from me....can a paintball store fill the tank with their nitro tank? i have a paintball store 2 min from my house

k24a4 uses 50 degree vtc

Actually the K24 uses 25deg and the K20a2 is 50deg.

Re: Nooob Chat 1101...Got questions, get in here

I have a k24 block that the oil filter mounting location is interfering with where the passenger side axle bracket lines up. The block is a K24Z1 from a crv, and the oil filter mounting location is right where the passenger axle bracket (the one with 4 bolts) mounts. I would like to make a block off plate, but then the bracket would not sit flush and I would only be able to install some of the bolts. What have the K24 swap guys used as far as axles go, and any ideas on the oil filter problem? Any ideas on which axles will work?
1. Do aftermarket axles have the aluminum bracket as the stock k20a3 passenger one does?
2. PLEASE HELP! Also, does anyone have a link to any oil filter location block-off ideas?
3. Can you block it off and install the filter elsewhere while still retaining excellent oil flow?
4. Can I run the axles WITHOUT the bracket without any adverse effects?
Here is a link to the pictures for the 03 si axle. You can see the bracket with th 4 bolts.

and the 06 si one

and the crv one that has a version of the bracket as well

yes

in-correct the k24a2 use a 25 deg vtc gear, ALL other k24's use a 50 deg vtc gear
Seriously? Now that I think about it it cant be. HOW would the Low C/R k24's even benefit from 50deg VTC? Wouldn't that be overkill for the wimpy 2 lobe cams and power compression goals?

No prob...
HERES MY BRAIN ON VTC.
The heads on K24'S(WITH THE EXCEPTION OF K24A2) are not as thermally efficient as the K20a2 or K24a2 which are basically the same head. Which is why we proceed with the Frank K24block/k20a2 head swap. FOR 3LOBE CAM/and 50deg VTC.The difference between the K20a2 is the 50deg VTC and the K24a2 25deg VTC...

also note-I assume that if the K24a2 has 25 VTC then the other K24's def have 25 deg VTC...There would have to be fundamental differences for the other K24's to utilize 50deg VTC...

HOW 50 DEG VTC helps!-The Addition of 50 deg of cam timing tunability will allow tuners more flexibility and the ability to fine tune cam angles convieniently through KPRO. This helps achieve broader powerbands through better cam angles and calibrations.

In the same breath VTC can also be a tool for disaster. For K24's 50 deg VTC and you risk V2P contact. As the the 50 degrees during certain engine speeds, and parameters can cause catastrophic valve piston party...Even if you electronically limit it in KPRO. Mechanically it can still breach the given parameters. Machining the K24a2 VTC to 45deg is the answer though...About the other K24 vtc's I don't know for sure

Here's a reference to V2P- http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7661
