i'm using a cheap ebay intake i cut up and dc sports tsx headers

I was thinking maybe the noise you're hearing is from the intake tube especially if your stepping on it. It creates a lot of suction. I've never heard of a header being too loud while an exhaust is hooked up to it. Just trying to throw ideas out..

no its not like an intake noise and definatly from the front of the car so its gota be the header. i'm not getting a leak there so might be the header pipping. and the header does make sound. the apex exhaust i have is one of the quietest out there

What kind of a noise is it? A hissing noise around those RPM's is thought of as normal, since you're dealing with thinner pipes on your header. Also, check if your flex pipes are leaking, especially if you had the header for a while.

The majority of my exhaust noice is from the header. It's LOUD!!! Keep in mind that the header is right near the firewall (which isn't too thick).
