welcome to k20a.org and thank you for registering. I'd suggest moving your thread to the classifieds in the want to buy section.

I think the 2006 has a better chassis meaning rigid, better fuel tank set up than 02 04 and it allows you to run the exhaust straight back if you tunnel. this will allow you to run a header with a megaphone and it can 90 left around the fuel tank. this way your exhaust wont be dragging on the ground if you lower it.

the 06 has a better ps pump by 9%, better designed steering rack. prc cams, 4.7fd.

I do agree that the 05-06 is the best option many type r upgrades were added in 2005. sans flywheel, pistons, interior, trans but they did improve many things including the chassis itself. beware of a bad 2nd or 3rd gear this is a common failure but easy to fix with time and cash and while your in there you may want to add an LSD as no usdm model has one. cheers and GL

the 05 06 did not receive the PRC flywheel or pistons. Just the 4.7FD and a version of the PRC intake and exhaust cam that is a different PN#. than the jdm K20a itr engine (PRC typical parts). the throttle body changed part numbers, not size from 02 04 switch to 05 06.

02-04 K20a2 and the 2005 K20z1 are dual valve spring assemblies. In 2006 the K20z1 went to a single valve spring assembly. The 02-4 K20a2 dual valve spring comes in two different options:

-- AP1 S2K intake valve spring (outer) PN# - (14761-PCX-003) yellow (Nhk Spring)

-- AP1 S2K exhaust valve spring (outer) PN# - (14762-PCX-003)

-- The inner intake spring is discontinued now. PN# (14751-PRB-A01) Blue (Nippon Hatsujo). Reports sat Toda sells a replacement spring for this.

-- The inner exhaust spring PN# - (14752-PRB-A01) Red (Nhk Spring)

-- The 2006 K20z1 is a prb single intake valve spring pn# (14761-PRB-A02) light blue (Nippon Hatsujo)

-- The 2006 K20z1 is a prb single exhaust valve spring pn# (14762-PRB-A02) Brown (Nippon Hatsujo)

ya its weird how they changed the springs the same thing occurred in JP on the type r dc5r those brown intake springs were on the usdm si also 06-11 and i think green ex. the duel springs reduce harmonic motion at high RPM since both springs have dif resonance hrz. i thought about doing the duel mod but went with psi single instead. shrug
