NO? Now is a good time to discuss this. What do you set yours at? Many people agree that they do sinch up over time. I just set mine on a compleatly re done head at .012 in. .016 ex. for startup.
If i don't have a feeler for the dead middle of spec, i use the next size bigger. I usually check every 30-40k mi or so but could probably go longer
Oem spec is
.008" - .010" for intake
.010"-.011" for exhaust

So, I have another question on the stripped cover bolts. Pretty sure it’s just the nut and top of the bolt that’s stripped, but I can’t get the damn nut off it just endlessly spins. I managed to get one of the infinite spinners off but the other one just won’t move. Can’t even get a screwdriver under it to pry it up, and pressing up on the metal part of the gasket also isn’t working. How the fuck do I get this off? Doesn’t help that it’s the back left one which is harder to reach. I’m debating just bringing by it to a shop and having them do everything but I’m already pretty invested into buying the tools.

Thank you. I am aware of the factory specs I'm also aware that more horsepower and bigger cams create more heat and I set mine a little loose. I've noted in the past that a little loose on any engine is better within reason? Now for dude?

Hello Dude. You can drill into the top of the bolt, remove the cover and then grip it with whatever. Don't stick a half in' bit on it. Core it out right down the middle with a bit the diameter of the bolt shaft. Wouldn't hurt to take a punch or a nail or a small drill bit and put a divet in it, pilot hole, something They make "special tools" for this also, to extract stripped whatever. Even they are hit or miss sometimes. You can overcome this.

Either way, there isn't a whole lot of threads holding that on there. I'd have a friend try to lift off the cover while rotating the nut. Might just pop off while giving it a tug.

Got it off and replaced the bolts and nuts. Found a random drill bit on the car floor from the previous owner and used it and a screwdriver + hammer to absolutely obliterate the cap nut till it fell off. Thanks for all the help everyone :)
