the oil filter need to be relocated to have clearence for half shaft. really do not know if you can use k20 pump or not with oil filter in bottom location b/c everyone that i have seen with the setup moves filter for half shaft to fit. also heard someone say you could cut a leg off half shaft to fit with filter one bottom but to my knowledge nobody runs the setup this way. i have same setup but haas been sitting in my dining room unassembled for couple years on back burner. any k series manual half shaft should work. k20a2/a3/z1/z3 k24a2/k24 accord 5spds etc. i have currently have one motor with k20z1 half shaft and another with k24 accord 5sp half shaft(k24a4/8?) both work fine

The oil filter does indeed need to be relocated, regardless of drive-shaft clearance.

The original pump is a funny one! The pump sucks oil from the pan and sends the oil to the filter through the main girdle via a passage in the pump. Once the oil is filtered... it is returned to the block via another passage in the pump. Eliminating the pump will obviously eliminate the passages that send oil too and from the filter.

The original pump and the type s pump both use the same port on the girdle to send oil into the block.
