The pistons need to be changed on the a4 and a8, I believe. The K24a1 block doesnt need to have to pistons changed. You can use the stock pistons out of the a2(TSX) or the a1 in your a8 block and use your old rings so you don't have to hone the block. Or just use the a8 longblock to get you running until money becomess avaiable.

Get da k24a4 or a8 it cheaper, i bought a full a4 for 400 n swap pistons n rod from a a1, or better a2. If u get the accord motor, i got a set of crv rods n brand new cp pistons lmk

This isnt the best option but I have seen a head swap done with a4 pistons and it did not have the dreaded VTP contact. Although I do believe this was possible through a 25 deg. VTC gear. a8 pistons are very similar to a4s, also if your getting an a8 engine just realize theyre DBW and a bitch to get around. Other than that its the same block as the a4 oh and it has oil squirter ports as well.

Sorry for being such a newb, but new to K Series, tried to search but couldnt find the info im looking for

I found the specs on each motor, k24a8 and k24a2, but is there any other differences besides HP and Compression Ratio between the motors.

If i were to get a K24a8, what would be need for K20 head??

All you need is a set of these k24R High Comp Cast Pistons 11.5:1

Bumping for a buddy who asked me a question on this. Good info nikos!:up:

Question that was asked previously, but wasn't answered.
Can you just slap a "true vtec" head on without any custom work other than the piston swap?

Also, I'd like to ask; the pistons from the k24z engines from the current CRV and accord models have a higher compression ratio (10.5:1). Can those pistons be used with a k20a2 head? or do they suffer from the same problems the k24a4/a8 pistons have?
