Change pistons, you can use k24a2 pistons or aftermarket. While your in there may as well change rods cause a4 rods will work with the a2 pistons but a4 rods are really small and on the weak side. There has been some people that have been able to run k20 head on a stock a4 bottom end by limiting vtc. I’ve never tried cause usually you can get an a4 in my area for 150-200. So I usually take the left over money and do up the bottom end, rods bearings and pistons and depending on what plans the are for motor, I throw a k20a2 oil pump in it.

There is nothing wrong with the a4, it just all depends on what your plans are with the car, if you wanna build it. Then great you got the perfect motor. If you want something you can slap a k20 head on and maybe do some other bolt ons, id look for a k24a2 or even a k24a1.

Good suggestions. The a1 block also doesn’t need any modifications to the type s oil pump for it to fit , just the oil port blocked. I’ve heard of people giving the a4 pistons a little extra clearance with a dremmel as well but that’s trailer park 😂 if you have the knowledge and a slight budget, the k24a4 block with a type s oil pump and some nippon type s pistons/ new bearings will give you a nice jump in power and won’t break the bank.

Yes i am definitely going with aftermarket pistons and rods just wanted to be sure that would stop the p2v contact. Also in an a4 does the oil port also need to be blocked?
