I'm currently running a 05 k24a2 with a 87.5mm bore, 12.5:1 wiseco, RRC, ASP big tube header, and 3" exhaust. I want to bump my compression to 13.7 and add some cams. Being I hear so much about the tsx head being a small high velocity port, what cams would benefit me the most? I cant imagine a cam designed for a prb head on a 2.4 delivering the same powerband/hp as on a rbb, but maybe I'm wrong. Also will I even see a big enough benefit bumping my compression from 12.5 to 13.7?

Yes you will see power increase from bumping the compression to 13.7, but you will also need to use e85.

Getting bigger cams such as the drag cartel 4's will help, but since you are wanting to bump the compression, a ported head will accommodate you much better.

Why do you want to bump the compression? What's the purpose of the car, DD, drag etc?

I'd do a set of cams before ripping into the motor to change the pistons. Cartel 4's a proven quality cam with 12.5cr.

The only reason I'm considering the bump in compression is my buddy has some for a good price. Also Ive seen a bunch of reviews and dynos of cams like the dc4 on k24 with 12.5:1 and even 13.7:1, but none on a tsx head. Being everyone says the ports are different Im guessing the powerband/hp will also be affected by cam size/design.

Maybe use the money you were going to buy the pistons to buy a bare PRB head? They're pretty cheap. Then you'll know for sure that you'll have a head that performs. The TSX doesn't flow well up top in stock form, it's been proven.

12.5cr, 4pro 156 head and some cartel 4's, roughly a 300whp motor.

yeah the intake valves are a tad smaller on the pre - 06-08

perhaps, just get the pistons and cams first and when you have enough money go for the ported head, the peak number won't be drastically different than a k20a2 head, you're just not gonna be able to carry the power further down the power band

Unless I can pick up a head for 150 like I can the pistons, I doubt that is in my near future.

Its a street setup that I'd like to do weekend road racing with, so a fat midrange and decent peak is more of what im shooting for. 275whp and 225wtq would be perfect for me. I'll be using a type s oil pump so I'll be keeping the revs under 8.5k.
