Mine is pretty grinded, but not cracked yet! Is there anything available on the market? I would consider changing for a new baffled pan or installing a baffle kit in a used, less-grinded, one (if ever I can put my hands on one)... I wasn't able to find anything her or online...

Would there be any other solutions like switching to different oil pump & pan setup from another k20/k24? But would there be any side effects of removing the balanced shaft pump?

From what I read, ther kit is actually a modified k20a pump, chain, chain, windage tray and a baffled pan.

I would prefer a cheaper solution where I can keep my OEM pump (balanced shaft) and change only the pan... But I don't even know if it's posible yet!

I sent a few emails to Hytech...

I'm currently looking for a baffle kit for my k20z3 swap, someone on k20a.org pointed me on one of your sites :

http://www.rsx-tuners.com/products.php?product=oil_pan_baffle

We currently have baffles for the aluminum pan RSX only and are working on the new SI pan as well.
I wanted to know if you have any expected date for this kit? I'm looking for a baffle kit only as it's way simpler & cheaper! I would prefer not to go thru the process of swaping an A2 pump (no balanced shafts), chain, guide & tray and machinig a few parts inorder to fit an RSX pan...

We have had them available for at least a year now. But it runs the RSX Type S oil pump. The cost is 349.00 + shipping.

What's included in the kit?

* RSX-S oil pump (and the required hardware to install in a z3) ?
* Oil pan with baffle kit isntalled OR a baffle kit (which I need to install in an oil pan purchase separatly) ?
* Any other parts required...

Is there any disadvantages of removing the balanced shafts pump? I thought some machining was required to fit the RSX-S oil pump on a k20z3 bloc?
John @ Hytech said:
Yes there is machining to the girdle to get the RSX pump to fit. WE have tried to machine the pump to get them to fit with out machining the girdle but the pump casting gets compromised and that is not good. The the new pump will bolt right on and I think a new chain is required also (different lengths)

The advantage in removing the balance shaft oil pump is now we can control the oil in the sump. With out that we run in to problems with the bearings.
I'm still unsure what's coming in the kit and what I need to buy separately... I just sent him another email to get more information!

i recently contacted KMS and john at hytech

kms:
Yes, the Toda will fit without change the oil pump and eliminating the balance shafts. The Mugen and Moroso units require changing the pump.

Jude

john at hytech has yet to make a baffle kit to work with the stock k20z3 oil pump system.
only way to run the hytech system is to buy his modified oil pump system

are there anyother alternatives for a stock k20z3

toda pan is pricey at $873 from KMS

anyone truly needing a baffleed pan would also greatly benefit from removing the balance shafts and running the upgraded RSX pump. It is'nt cheap however given the known history of the K-series to starve for oil under high G loads I think it is a practical and cheaper option rather than replacing an engine.

seems that all the baffles on the market require a type S pan and pump... that's what I went with. If you're really gonna wang the car then I would just bit the bullet and be safe about it. you can find this stuff used pretty easily, except the baffle. dont think you'd be able to fit any baffle in the pan with those balance shafts though.

yea mostly all that i have come across require swapping the pump.
very expensive indeed. at the moment i just want a baffled pan to keep me lube'd during Gs
main benifit of the modified oil pump is to rev safely past 8600 but from what ive read our rods max out around 8500 so the modifed pump wont safely be used since stock Ks cant rev that high anyway.

I have a BluePrint Racing oil pan baffle in my car. See the last couple of pages of my build thread in my sig. If you are having problems with your pan hitting things, then buying a toda pan or any type of baffle that attaches to the pan, that would be foolish. Give Robert a call at BluePrint and see if he can modify one for your car, or opt for Type S pump ( and gain a few hp ):hmmm:

yea thats exactly why i am weighing my options. before i make a purchase. i cant see my self paying 850 for a pan when i can get the whole hytech kit and have a bullet proof oil setup for the same price. but it doesnt seem logical since i cant rev higher with out building the bottom end.
i actually droped blueprint a email when i read they had a baffled that was not offered on their site. i have to get a pan before may, so i got some time. i did one track event in my si with out a baffle and i wont do it again
