ok i have a k20a3 laying around from a 05 parts rsx wich is an automatic, and i have a couple of questions for swapping it in a DC

1st: I was looking to get a RBC intake manifold, does it just bolt up and work properly, or do i have to modify it?

2nd: if i get the RBC manifold can i use my A3 throttle body or do i have to get a different one?

3rd: do i have to get a type-s knock sensor?

4th: I'm planning on getting a type-s tranny, will it just bold right up? do i need anything special?

thanks for the poeple who reply

rbc will have to be cut unless you get one that is already cut then its just a matter of bolting up. and yes you can just use the A3 throttle body to get by. If i was you i would just wait and find a good deal on a long block since you already have a type-s tranny. if you planned on boosting i would just dump the internals and get type-s crank, aftermarket rods, low comp pistons and a type-s head....blah blah blah. everyone on here is going to convice you to not spend the money on swapping in a A3.

if i was you i would take the money you would spend putting that motor in and buy a rsx wrecked or a shell put the a3 back in the rsx...sell it and have the funds for a A2 swap.

ok thanks for the help, but what exactly get cut on the RBC to fit the A3?

and i dont see why its harder to swap an A3 versus the A2?

and is there that much of a power difference?
its not harder at all, thats not the issue its the power. its pointless to spend the money to swap in a k motor that makes the same power as a b16. if your gonna spend the money on mounts, kpro, header, axles, then 500-600 more for a A2 shouldnt be an issue. the only thing i would keep an A3 for would be a back up motor to put in if the A2 went bad or if i was selling the car and sold the motor seprate. other wise head=junk, internals= junk, oil pump=junk, tranny=good for boost, block= good for built and boost. thats it man. do some reasearch talk to some experienced k20 members and then make a decision to go further or not with the A3.

everyone on here would be more than willing to give you an info that you would need. if it isnt already posted.

ok thanks for the info, but you see the only reason im doing the A3 swap is because i got one for free from my dad, so i am planning to use it for a while then i will buy some wrecked rsx type s and just swap the A3 with an A2, and i dont want to sell the A3 because i wont get much for it, and can you guys tell me what exactly gets cut on the RBC intake?

Ok thanks for the replys, and I understand now that the A2 is way better than the A3, I will just have to put the A3 in for no and get a A2 in a little while since I will just have to swap just the short block, and I'm still wondering what has to be modified for the RBC to fit the A2?

Actually no.. the a3 head is junk like stated above.

dude... a2 longblocks were 1500 6 months ago... with the current prices even lower why bother with a A3??

that A3 swap going give K swaps a bad rep lolol... have people saying "K swaps is slow, just look at his!"

Well I see that I'm not getting much help here except for the bashing of my motor and what I should do, well if I had the funds right now to get a A2 I would but since I don't I will have to stick with the A3 for now, I came to get some questions answered that would help me with my swap but I guess I should go to another forum

Im not bashing you. We are not bashing you. But to be honest, in ALL respect. any K swap is not for a "tight budget"... save your money then bro.

I prefer your car to bash people at the track and rep Honda then for it to get bashed.

since you so emo im done posting in here lol

hey man whats good?? the easiest way to modify the rbc manifold is to get a gasket for the prb intake. and then cut to that pretty much all your doing is cutting off the water jacket on the side. need anymore info im here to help ya man.

I'm tired so I didn't read the rest of the thread but know that the K20A3 throttle body is different between the base RSX and the EP3. The EP3 actually had a Type S TB. You want the Type S/EP3 TB.

The RBC IM will fit your K20A3 head with modification. You need to cut part of it off where the water outlet is. It's integrated on an unmodified RBC IM where as the PRB/PRC IM never had it. It was a separate piece bolted onto the head.

Check Karcept's RBC intake manifold adapter instructions. Also, think about getting that so that you can use a cable driven throttlebody with your RBC IM.

the way i did it was i toke the intake gasket ( i just bought a hondata one) and put it up to the rbc and toke a marker and traced the outside of the gasket where it needed to be cut. I then toke a cut off wheel and cut a chunk off then grinded it to the line pattern that i drew earlier. you have to be careful not to cut too much or cut into the intake. it wasnt too bad to do honestly.

if you need any additional info just pm me.
