to be honest u were probably better off with the Type R. i went with the non type S route here because of the insurance factor.. nothing else.. since then i have long surpassed the type S factor in terms of price but i've only managed to hit the bolt on Type S stage. In the long run you cannot want big power and start with the entry level because the money spent to get to that level will not level out. between kpro and all the other crap you could have had a stock R and call it a day. If i lived in a country where the Type R was an option, trust me i would want that and nothing else but that.

I have a boosted Base pushing around 300whp redline is 6800 atm.
I sir was gonna build my head but after reading these posts I will increase my rev on stock engine to 8k and see how it holds for you. I should be having it tuned in about a week. Will keep you posted how the stock head holds up!

PLEASE keep me posted.

Right now I have my KPRO, and after some personal tuning (really just leaning it out and advancing ignition; not even one knock yet :D) and i couldnt be happier.

Next question!

Which intake manifold should I run for TORQUE, not HP.
I cant stick with the base, as I got a KPRO for $800, and it seems to be a JDM PRB, so I have to disable 2nd intake runners.

So far my choices locally are a PRB or RBB.

Then full exhaust (hopefully a Type S exhaust) and cams.

And for those saying get an R, most R's start at $15k

I paid $9k, $10k on the road with a years rego and insurance. kpro + cams = $1k, ehaust + intake will hopefully come out to about $500.

Got some R suspension for $200.

Its going to be a frankenstien, but in the end, I'm going to have a hell of a lot of fun modifying, be at least $3k better off, and likely be able to out perform stock type R's on the street (not track; damn LSD and 6th gear, but that was never the goal)

Sweet.
So for $100 you recon an RBB is worth it?
It'll be $160 as I'll need one of those adaptors for my throttle body wont I?
And a Hondata thermal gasket. So $200 all up.

I want TQ most; and the RBB has GOT to be better than base with only half its runners working.

I have an endyne ported RBB and a stock RBB. You will want to port it. Side by side you'll be disappointed in the factory manifold.

I had an EG with k20a3 and rsx 5speed transmission.

My build was;

Junk2 stage3 cams
Junk2 valvetrain (springs retainers ..)
Junk2 intake manifold
Junk2 70mm TB
Hytech header
Custom 3inch exhasut
Kpro

And more.

I had a shit ton of fun with this car. I broke axles shifting in 2nd gear at track in street tires lol. That was not a budget build at all, but hell it was fun to drive until the Junk2 cams destroyed my timing chain tensioner and completly destroyed my engine.
