How well does the K20A2 launch without LSD? Does it spin like crazy? I am putting a K20A2 in my 94 Civic Coupe and I am afraid how it will react to not having LSD. I had a 95 Civic Coupe that I put a H22A in and all it did was spin b/c of it not having LSD. The only reason I ask is b/c the K sits on the opposite side as the D,B,F,H and puts more weight on the passenger side tire and the driver should equal the weight on both front tires. So do I really need it b/c I don't want to make the same mistake again?

Well I'm in process of collecting parts and I made it a point to find a tranny with an lsd. I wouldn't go to all the trouble of putting in a k swap into my car and not having an lsd to plant that power to the ground. Yes, you should have one.

Slicks, slicks, slicks...that's all everybody thinks about. 98% of the people on this forum build street cars, not drag cars. That means that 99% of the time these cars are going to be driven and occasionally raced on the street...not the track with slicks. On that note, get LSD. LSD isn't just for launching at a drag race, it'll give you advantages in corner exit speed and engine deceleration braking.

Don't have a straight track mind unless your building a straight track car.

I'm running 195/60/R14 Falken Azenis with a Quaife LSD and 5.062 FD. I can't imagine the car without the LSD. I break the tires loose in 1st and 2nd gear everytime I open it up. I need some stickier tires for the street. With a stock FD, you should be in a lot better shape. Like RC000E said, hitting the corners with an LSD is something to experience...It's fun as shit!

With a k20a2, open diff, and 205/50/15 azeni's the best I pulled was 2.15 60'. With slicks I pulled 1.85 60's regularly

With the same setup, a type-r lsd, full-race traction bars and AVS es100's I pull 2.00 60' regularly. It spins a fair amt on the street, but its nothing like when it had an open diff. I've never lost a race against a FWD car out of the hole; street or track.

How does a car run BETTER at the track without LSD?

Actually, if straight track racing is all you care about you can preload the sway bar on your car to act as a traction bar. You just add some preload (via washers) to the right side swaybar link, then reduce the air pressure about 5 psi in the opposite side tire.

I have known people that ran this setup, then went to a quaiffe with little to no discernible difference in 60' times. So if LSD is out of the question, this will certainly work.

ive seen slips of guys over on H-T running 1.60x 60' times on open diff. B series that is, but if it can be done with B i dont see why it cant be done with K.

The only thing i think it really takes to run 60' times that fast is alot of track time, and alot of experimentation. slick size/psi/ laungh rpm.. so on and so on and so on
