hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what needs to be done (if this is possible) to lower the tranny gear ratio...

meaning- when i drive i feel like I can use a 7th gear, is there a way to lower the gear ratio? so that i dont have a feeling like my car needs a 7th gear.. (sorry for such un-technical description this is the best i can do, hope people understand what i mean)

car is a 02 civic ex with k20a motor and tranny, thanks for the help ahead of time.

Without changing something in the transmission, getting larger diameter tires would be the only way.

6th gear on the hwy with th R fd is at 70-75mph is around 4000 rpm...too damn high for an everyday driver IMO.
Swap out to the type S fd and throw in the tsx 6th.You shouldnt have a problem after that.

thanks a bunch to everyone.. its a daily driver and i drive way to much and wanted to reduce some of the stress on the car. Another R tranny related question: Does anyone expierince slight problems with going into (only) the 1st gear? Sometimes its a bit hard to actually put it in 1st, u need to force it a bit.. is this a common issue if so whats the fix for it? (stage 3 clutch, CM)

I saw your artical in honda tunning awsome man. I think im gonna do it, if i dont just swap out the hole thing. Do you think id be better off Doing that tranny converion and converting me k20a3 head to to a k20a head or just doing a full swap? i want the rsx s setup in my ep3.

I have that problem on my a3 tranny, and its stock... I just wiggle it in nuetral for a sec or put it into 2nd or 3rd and then it goes in like butter...
