I have a ep3 and I have a couple of questions about this motor I have. It’s stamped “k20a” on the block but it’s definitely not a type r engine. So why is it stamped k20a if it’s a economic version? Plus all other economical engines have the 2 lobe intake cam - 1 lobe exhaust cam right. But mine has a 3 lobe intake cam for some reason. And a 1 lobe exhaust cam. How does that work, doesn’t it need different rockers and adjustments for the extra cam on the intake side? I thought it was a k20a3 but it definitely isn’t.

@ekracer98 stated, there are two K20A versions available: ECO and Performance, which means a looooooooooooot of differences beside the at minimum 40 hp gap between those.
Honda uses 2 and 3 lobe intake cams for the ECO version, but always a single lobe for the exhaust. The 3 lobe system allows to open the 2nd valve a bit while the 1st is fully open, creating a swirl in the chamber. This increases the range where low speed cam works out efficiently and cost a bit on the emission side. The JDM is the only market where the engine code alone don't tell one what is inside: the ECO or the Performance setup. All other market clearly differentiate between those types by the engine code itself.
What you have is an ECO version of the K20A. No single chance of having a super rare performance alternation of load system. I am sorry for not having better news for you.
